You have to pick the server before you create the character. It sounds like you have created the character and are expecting to go select a server now.
no man, seriously would be alot easier if you got on a server with these guys, aside from the brilliance they exhibit on the board, they are mostly Uber Leetzor
yeah, but this is the second time i would have to restart a character and finding time in between chilling with the wife and kid makes it shitty for me to keep starting from the beginning.

If you're having problems with this already <lvl 10 then this isn't the game for you.
In his defense, he just got the game so he probably isn't grinding away the levels like we would be doing, he's is just wandering around trying to figure things out.
While we could get to level six in an hour, it probably took him a day so it seems like a much bigger accomplishment.
Just have fun playing the game. That's what it's all about. Even if you don't play with us, you'll make friends on whatever server you're on. After all, that's how I met all you scumbags.
