power supply question

Postby Kramer » Tue Jul 17, 2007 9:03 pm

so we lost the power supply to our linksys wireless router in a recent move and i had to buy one, there were a few ends to choose from,

my question is: it's going to be a typical 9 volt right? cause there is a 12 volt and it could fit too.

i am trying the 9 volt and it seems to be working, i just don't wnat to fry the router.

well
doesn't the router itself tell you what it needs for voltage and amperage?

you can't just use any old wall wart and expect it to live long term

i couldn't find any techinical info on amperage. i talked to a guy at microcenter and he said it more than likely a 9 volt. only thing the router told me was that it was positively wired (you know with the (+)------(-) signs.

I'll take a picture of my wireless router's plug.

It says:
MODEL NO:AM-12500
INPUT: 120VAC 60HZ 12W
Output: 12VDC 500mA
