One source close to the probe counted the number of games on which the ref and his wiseguy buddies scored windfalls in the "double digits."


sweet, he was fixing games to win $50 bet!

It's not like anyone who has watched the NBA the last few years didn't know the Refs were dodgy. Just look at Dallas vs Miami, or Cleveland vs San Antonio this year.

If this is legit it could have major repercussions IMO. Everyone always knew the reffing was poor in the NBA but now to add motive instead of incompetence is just bad news for the league.

If it comes out that money was exchanged for during the Miami V Dallas series Cuban is going to put a hit out on someone.

Cuban will probably sue the league for all the fines imposed on him, with a valid reasoning...

Oof, malfeasance by an official is about the worst thing that can happen to a league. As Zan said, the bitching about the quality of reffing was already loud, and now you add in someone on the take? I dunno what the NBA will do, honestly. Maybe scrap the entire ref corps except for the top few performers and hire a bunch of the top end NCAA refs?
