heroin addicts may disagree, but if you look at the number of coffee shops that exist, it's hard to dispute
If you drink diet sodas, read this...

see and I never got the draw of it - caffeine does literally nothing to me, I could have a caffeine free diet pepsi in the morning and it would wake me up just the same as a regular diet pepsi. my mom though.. she drinks like 2 pots of coffee a day and can't live without it.

I dont drink coffee either, just never appealed to me. Its like smoking, i sometimes smoke when im super super hammered for some reason, but literally *never* when im sober, and it does absolutely nothing to me because the amount of nicotine in a cigarette is so minute to the amount in a dip of snuff ><
The only time I have EVER smoked with any regularity is back a number of years ago when I was going to raves regularly, and doing E. One of the side-effects to E is it messes with your jaw muscles and sense of taste, so smoking a cigarette was actually pleasant. I'd go through maybe half a pack in the course of a night, then not touch them again for a week or two weeks until the next time I was screwed up.
Haven't touched either for, oh, hrm, 5+ years now though, and never smoked cigarettes sober.

While you may not feel it I bet if you got hooked up to a machine it would see your heart rate increase and a few of the other known side affects of caffeine.
I love the stuff myself, drink about 5 cups a day. I next to never drink soda though, ice tea for me with a teaspoon of sugar
Mindia, so you know, they say the "coming down" effects of those caffeine drinks can be really hard on the mind and body (not that I should be preaching drinking coffee the way I do).
Sort of surprised no comments on my "why do humans drink cow's milk" reference LOL.

Too true

I agree with Gaazy, IMO it isn't so much the raw material that is bad but all the modifications we make that makes it bad.
We never leave well enough alone and think pumping steroids or god knows what into the food we eat will make it better.
The other day on dirty jobs, Mike Rowe was at a cow farm, his job for the day was cleaning the cows hoofs and stalls and such. Towards the end, they show him and a bunch of workers sweeping all the shit and urine from the cows into this underground vat, using water hoses and such. Then they vacumed up this lovely mix into a tanker, took the tanker out to the fields where the cows eat, and sprayed this "fertilizer" all over the place.
Essentially they showed that cows are eating their own shit, yet I thought this in of itself causes all sorts of problems.

BTW, it isn't so much that milk is really "bad" for you (althought I don't know about Darclers comment re: calcium) I do know as you get older your body does not break down dairy as it did. If you look at any other animal, we are the only ones who drink milk beyond the younger years and we are the only animal that drinks some other animals milk.

Actually, cow manure has been used as a fertilizer for ages.

We've already done this argument at least three times here.
You can't compare a human to an animal. We make our own food too, we don't just forage and/or kill for it.
That's like saying "we're the only animals that bake bread, bread is the fucking devil!"

Never having owned a cat, maybe it's just a stereotype, but don't cats drink milk when they are adults? And wouldn't they be drinking cow's milk, since that's what humans primarily buy to feed them? I know they couldn't exist on milk alone, but I believed that they liked it as a treat.
As for myself, I used to drink milk like crazy when I was younger. Sort of grew out of that, and now only have milk with cereal, or an occasional glass with warm chocolate chip cookies (you can't beat that).

wait a couple years. coffee/caffeine never did anything for me either when I was in my 20's. I could drink a pot of coffee at midnight, and be asleep by 12:45 np
I've always loved the smell of coffee, especially fresh ground beans done in a percolator
I swear to god, as soon as I turned 30 (maybe it was 29) that I could no longer drink coffee after 8 pm or it would keep me awake all night
I've never gotten the jitters or anything, but I know I feel sluggish all day unless I get my coffee fix in first thing in the morning

Yes I realize that and I hope you're being a bit sarcastic but the fertilizer you mentioned is typically processed in some way and is not raw sewage as shown in the show.
For example, you don't take your organic garbage and dump it on your garden. You steep it in soil and such (e.g. compost pile) and typically wait several months for some of the raw orgainic material to break down. Then use this as fertilizer.
To put it in human terms, I don't see a vegan, shitting in their garden, then harvesting their bounty the next day for the dinner table.

you just let the manure dry, chop it up, and spread it around.
ps, yes you do take organic garbage and dump it on the garden (obviously not during growing season tho)

Think what you want but point blank, milk can't be broken down in adults because you lack the means to use the stuff.

All I said was that milk is bad for you and that it is strange we are the only animal that drinks another animals milk.
To counter your example, "You can drink piss, so it must be good" (sorry, saw a recent Man vs Wild episode)
I must have missed the milk wars saga.

Exactly...nothing is done to it at all except to let it dry in the sun.

Not all cats, and a majority of them do not.
100% of all the cats I have ever had or known, which is something like 15, puked from drinking milk.
I'm sure your New England super cats are immune, or you're talking shit, one or the other.

Yeah I know tikker, then you til it into the soil.
It was the imagery of it that didn't seem right to me and the speed in use of the fresh manure.
So to get it all in line for you guys.
- Milk is not good for adults as you lack the means to use it.
- Manure is used to fertilize crops that cows then eat
- Animals that eat their own shit can harbor deadly diseases
That is all I was attempting to convey. The show appeared to be spewing thousands of pounds of fresh shit on vegitation the cows feed upon and that is not a good thing.
EDIT
Mar and tikker, you're wrong re: the way manure is used. Ask a farmer, they till that manure into the soil prior to planting. Tilling the soil is a key part to plant for an upcoming season.

Nope, none of the cats I've ever owned have thrown up after drinking milk.
They mainly only threw up after they went out eating grass, which is a natural thing they do sometimes to get hairballs out one way or the other. There's actually a whole bunch of reasons why, but that's the main reason. (if the cat goes outside and eats rodents, it uses grass to ease stomach pain as a result of eating a dirty animal)
Sometimes they'd throw up if we changed cat foods on them though.
Not once did they throw up after drinking milk.
