What are you doing with it?
Inside each person lives two wolves. One is loyal, kind, respectful, humble and open to the mystery of life. The other is greedy, jealous, hateful, afraid and blind to the wonders of life. They are in battle for your spirit. The one who wins is the one you feed.

Hell I'd think you'd have to go to at least a 7900gt to get a significant boost from the 9800 pro - those were awesome cards for so long.

the Nvidia 8600's are a cheap way (130ish bucks?) to get dx10 compatible cards and are rated very highly on newegg. I'm not an ATI guy so couldn't tell you what the best upgrade on ATI's rail is.

Well it could be from the Nvidia family too because I am basically doing some remolding in my Case, Processor, Hard Drives, RAM, Video Card, Sound Card, motherboard is already taken care of lol so if you guys are on Newegg and see some deals just PM me or whatever because I work about 55 hours a week and after the gym and baseball practice I like to watch the Soxs game and throw back a couple...So any help here and there would be appreciated because what I am gearing towards is the release of Kunark for EQ 2 and I want to have a rig that would run it smoothly like a fatman who loves laxatives

Thanks a lot guys

7900GT is affordable and runs EQ2 perfectly for me.

I'd ramp up and go to the 8800 or the 8600, significant increases in power.

AGP or PCI, Lost?

AGP, this will play EQ2 nicely and get you through the next 2 years of games that aren't Vista reliant. It's 165 bucks, but is a 512M X1950 pro. A very, very good card.

PCI you have more options, but the best cost effective solution is going to be 7900GS. This one is 150 bucks or so.

If you want to dough out just a bit more, this would be my personal suggestion, an 8800 GTS

This one ends up being 260 bucks. Can't really beat that, and it'll scream with almost all modern games.

fwiw I've got a 7900gs in my laptop that plays pretty much all modern games at 1920x1200 with everything turned on full

some games I have to turn anti aliasing down a bit, but it's a great card for the money
