lots of people were crying and getting emotional but for me compaired to dealing with my dad having terminal brain cancer a few months before this was a non event

Sorry for the lost job, that does suck indeed.

I'd suggest software dev as they're always in demand (regardless of what lyion may say). Check the papers and monster, there is always a good listing for coders.

Sorry to hear that Damm. :(

Unfortunately that is the plight of the American IT worker. It's why I have a goal of being self employed in the near future.

Best of luck in the yob hunt.

Sorry to hear about your job loss, man, but after the way Dell handled my company's PC/laptop rollout, the rest of Dell shutting down due to incompetence can't be far behind.

I use Dell as a pusher or dealer I guess, I only buy from them, IMO their consulting arm isn't much better than ASS.

We started moving away from Dell last year and have been using HP for our servers and desktop/laptops. You can blame us directly for your layoff... Sorry :(

what is funny is the promise that they were going to close some of the outsourcers and bring some support back to america . they sent 2 of my fellow techs to the phillipines (i was asked but my dad decided to get cancer) to train people to do our jobs and 3 days after they came back poof tier two tech support is outsourced again

Are they at least giving you a decent severance package? Look at the bright side...this is an opportunity for you and you very well may find a more rewarding job elsewhere. Besides...Oregon..eww. :blah:

Oregon..eww? Oregon is beautiful. It's just too bad that the once great city of Portland got taken over by commie pinko perverts years ago, and is now politically, a nightmare of a place.

I've only been through Oregon once.. and it was really gorgeous. The only thing I remember about it other than the scenery though... was that you weren't allowed to pump your own gas! Was the most bizarre thing I ever saw. full service everywhere, no self service >.<
