Finally some good news this week
So yesterday I was at work doing my normal work thing, mundane, boring - great people, but no sick days, no vacation, mediocre pay (although it's still more than I've made until this point in my life, it's still not great pay) - I'm not a huge fan of my actual job, but I do love the people and I do love that I get to wear jeans every day and I do love that I leave at 2.30 every day
Anyway.. I get a call about 1 on my cell - it's a guy with the government contracting job I applied to before I ever worked here - we talk a while, super nice guy - he asks me what type of start date I would be looking at, I told him that I couldn't just abandon my boss so he would have to at the minimum give me the full 2 weeks - he says you know what, I'm gonna go ahead and call and tell them we found our girl - how does the 16th sound? Then he goes over the package with me.. more than a $4 an hour pay raise, 80 hours of vacation accruing immediately, 40 hours of sick leave immediately, life insurance, full benefits at no cost, 401k, the whole deal.. oh, same hours too - I almost fell to the floor. That's a 10k a year payraise, and it's doing the administrative stuff I liked doing, not accounts receivable (which I'm not terribly fond of at all.)
So, when it rains it pours.. but things are starting to look up =)

"I think you may be confusing government running amok with government doing stuff you don't like. See, you're in the minority now. It's supposed to taste like a shit taco." - Jon Stewart
