EQ Soundboard

Postby LostCause » Mon Aug 06, 2007 8:38 pm

This goes out to all of the old players, there are so many songs, noises and etc. That I remember till this day just was wondering if anybody had a favorite.

The other day I was working in the yard. I started to whistle the Qeynos front gate theme music.....just out of nowhere....

I actually have a folder somewhere that has all the original midi files labeled correctly and everything. Just have to find it....

The level up sound was the sweetest sound there ever was.

I was with my buddy Kaelz one day, and we were watching Saturday night live. They used the level up sound in one of the skits. We both looked at each other and yell DING!!!!

Quite amusing for the other people in the room.

You see a naked guy and you say, "Hey I like that." I dont make that leap, that is like me looking at an elephant, "Hey look it's an elephant, lets drain its blood and paint my boat house."

that was just a long way of me saying shut the fuck up. Rivervale fucking sucked.

I played with sound so rarely it was startling when I did hear sounds because of reinstalls.

I always heard that Cobalt Scar had some groovey tunes.

Qeynos music for me as well, when you turn the corner heading out of town into the newbie area and it kicks on.

Qeynos was lame. In fact, that whole side of the continent was lame. Rivervale, Neriak and Grobb were my favorite cities.

Rivervale music trumps all else.

The neriak necro area music was pretty slick too though. 8)

Qeynos + rivervale were awesome. Kelethin + felewithe made me cry when I would get lost back in the day. And i really enjoyed Wakening Lands, especially outside of PoN.

Oh, and Qeynos Hills absolutely. I spent way more time there than any sensible person should.

I'm not good with this stuff, but for those of you who are... is it at all possible to swap the sound and music files from your EQ folders and drop them into WoWs? Sooo, when combat music triggers it's EQs instead, or certain zone musics and what not.

It depends. If you snoop around the warcraft directory and find mp3 files, then I'd guess you can if you just replace them with the desired EQ files under the same name.

But if its anything like EQ, the patcher would notice the files are the wrong size, and replace again.

That's too bad, it would be kind of neat.

It's hard to explain to non EQ people how EQs atmosphere and environments are greater and more memorable than WoWs. They only see EQ as dated graphics and an old, slower combat system.

i turned off sound once we started in the Kael arena all the time

the fight music was cool, but when it was on ALL THE TIME it ended my appreciation for EQ sounds

I think it wasn't until we got to plane of water in PoP that I turned sound back on

fwiw, smedley told me that like 90% of all crashes in EQ (pre-velious) were caused by the music/sounds and the shitty programmer they had for that

So anyone ever locate the classic music? Hell, I'd be happy with just the original theme music-not the fancy shit they use now. =0

I don't know if anyone has them hosted on the interweb, I bet there is.

But if you really want them get ahold of an original EQ disk and install it without patching and it'll give you all the files in MIDI form.

when i started out i would inevitably get lost looking for the damn spire to get up to the moon, and then it would only go every 7 minutes and some mob would wander by and slay my n00b aze
