IMO it creates stress/jealousy when you talk about salaries.
For instance, there's probably some 35+ year olds on this board that make less than 40k a year that just threw a hissy that a 21 year old is making that.

I was making 32k a year as a forklift operator on 35 hour weeks. (average)
That was the easiest job I've had too, sit on my ass whipping around a freezer with headphones on.

In general because people are small and petty, and get their shit in a twist about stuff like that
personally, I mostly don't care, since what someone on this board makes affects me less than a mosquito bite

In order to make $32K a year, you actually have to work a full year.

Isn't 32k a year only 15 dollars an hour?

Currently in college. 2 years programming experience in a job. Enough for a Junior position.

That info is taboo to me because it changes people's outlook on me. Not saying I'm Bill Gates or anything, but I make somewhat more than the average 24 year old.

You can think no one gives a crap and certainly no one here does because our interactions are limited to some board postings but in person people change their tune upon discovering how little or much money you have. That or maybe its just Cali.

I think it's just a reality in your shallow image based business (and I don't mean that as an insult of any kind)

It is, but it exists outside of it too. How many times have you heard "Can I borrow 20? I mean, I know you got it."

"You got all of your teeth?"
"I'll fuck ya."
Seriously though, I generally avoid discussing what I make and how I make it because I get enough questions as is about my life.
I think I am ready to start just telling people that I operate a highly successful interspecies erotica video distribution network. That should shut them up.

It's common knowledge that you don't discuss or ask a person how much they make.
What does it mean when you do it anyway? It means you lack couth. Can't buy that, either. How ironic.

Anyone measuring someone's worth monetarily is a pretty pathetic person. This board is full of pathetic people
