talk about a pain threshold

Post by Thon »

TOKYO (Reuters) - A Japanese biker failed to notice his leg had been severed below the knee when he hit a safety barrier, and rode on for more than a mile, leaving a friend to pick up the missing limb.

The 54-year-old office worker was out on his motorcycle with a group of friends in the city of Hamamatsu, west of Tokyo, on Monday, when he was unable to negotiate a curve in the road and bumped into the central barrier, the Mainichi Shimbun said.

He felt excruciating pain, but did not notice that his right leg was missing until he stopped at the next junction, the paper quoted local police as saying.

The man and his leg were taken to a hospital, but the limb had been crushed in the collision, the paper said.

not sure how you can not notice losing half a leg :dunno:

shock does funny things to you

i would have thought you'd notice that your leg was gone the first time you went to pedal....

Notice the article said motorcycle. No pedaling necessary. Still weird as hell that he didn't even notice though. Go go endorphins, so powa.

So what would be the bigger shock: The immediate shock of losing the leg, or the shock when you realize that your leg is gone?

I should ask my cousin that.. When she was fairly young, I think 15 or so, she was on top of a water skiing pyramid, had the rope thing twisted around her wrist, fell, and it ripped her hand off. Wonder what realizing your hand is gone would be like?

Why, because it would cut your dating pool in half?

I just pray for the safety of my kids. I could give a fuck if someone cuts my arms off as long as nothing hurts my children.

erm, yeah, that's what i meant!

ps, I can see it now

the light turns red, guys slows down, and attempts to rest by leaning on his strong right leg

bam, falls down and wonders why

notices lack of leg, and I would assume, large puddle of blood with a trail leading back the way he came

you'd also think passing motorists would notice and honk or something

I believe it. I have a friend who lost his leg in a motorcycle accident. While, yes he did notice his leg missing, he told me about how he woke up one night to get a glass of water, went to stand on his missing leg and down he went. His explaination is that the nerves are still there and the brain can still issue commands to the leg as if it's still there so sometimes it does feel like it's still there.

really, that's strange. most of us would throw a party in celebration if we lost our hands.

nah, I didn't mean that - I meant that what he said was such a useless stupid statement.

Oh I'd be depressed if I lost my hand I think

No fucking shit, genius
