Metroid Prime 3: Corruption.

Post by Treehorn »

Where the hell did this thing come from? I wasn't even aware that they were working on a new Metroid for the Wii yet, and then all of a sudden I hear one was coming out in like 4 days? zomg!

So far, it's pretty awesome. I was a little afraid of the control scheme, but the controls are pretty intuitive and actually sort of amke you feel like part of the action.

Also, they pretty much cut straight to the chase. They don't start you out with a [completely] stripped down Varia suit like normal, you have some decent utilities from the beginning, so you don't spend like the first 2 hours trying to learn morph ball again, or anything like that. Hell, 10 minutes in, and you're already blowing away Space Pireates, then like 40 minutes into the game and you're fighting Mecha Ridley! :hiphop:

P.s.- Fuck EB for making me crawl into Wal-Mart to pick it up on the *real* release date . You sicken me with your lies! The 28th indeed!

This has been coming since the GameCube. I played it last September at a convention when it was supposed to be a damn launch title but kept getting pushed back.

P.S.
EB/GameStop may not be to blame. Blame UPS/Fed EX. Almost All EB's and GameStops got theirs yesterday with the exception of the ones UPS/FedEx fucked over. (There were a few cases where it was the fault of the dumb ass kid not getting to the store in time to greet Fed Ex/UPS before opening)

If Wal-Mart had them before yesterday, they broke the rules-which they often do.

Oh, sure, a Metroid for the Wii was pretty much inevitible (but then, who knows, maybe they'd pull an N64 on us), but I was surprised that it was coming out so soon. Hell, half of my reason for even picking up a Wii was based on the prospect of future Metroid installations, and the only reason I even bothered to pick one up when I did, back in May, was for Zelda.

Yeah, EB seems to have a thing for Tuesdays, like that's when they like to do their releases if they can help it. May just be a limitation of not having an actual distribution network of their own, other than shipping everything by Fed-Ex/UPS.

Either way, after reading mention of it on Penny-Arcade, and checking out the links they posted, I looked around a few other sites for release date info. They all agreed it was the 27th, so unless they were all just parroting eachother's bad info, I'd say the 27th was official. Notorious as Wal-Mart is for disregarding street dates, it was on their shelves and in their pricing system on the day every source but EB agreed was the release date. /shrug
