Radio Frequencies Help Burn Salt Water
By David Templeton, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

Tue, 11 Sep 2007, 11:41AM

ERIE, Pa. - An Erie cancer researcher has found a way to burn salt water, a novel invention that is being touted by one chemist as the "most remarkable" water science discovery in a century.

John Kanzius happened upon the discovery accidentally when he tried to desalinate seawater with a radio-frequency generator he developed to treat cancer. He discovered that as long as the salt water was exposed to the radio frequencies, it would burn.

The discovery has scientists excited by the prospect of using salt water, the most abundant resource on earth, as a fuel.

Rustum Roy, a Penn State University chemist, has held demonstrations at his State College lab to confirm his own observations.

The radio frequencies act to weaken the bonds between the elements that make up salt water, releasing the hydrogen, Roy said. Once ignited, the hydrogen will burn as long as it is exposed to the frequencies, he said.

The discovery is "the most remarkable in water science in 100 years," Roy said.

"This is the most abundant element in the world. It is everywhere," Roy said. "Seeing it burn gives me the chills."

Roy will meet this week with officials from the Department of Energy and the Department of Defense to try to obtain research funding.

The scientists want to find out whether the energy output from the burning hydrogen — which reached a heat of more than 3,000 degrees Fahrenheit — would be enough to power a car or other heavy machinery.

"We will get our ideas together and check this out and see where it leads," Roy said. "The potential is huge."

The downside is that there would be a massive corporate rush to privatize the oceans.

The down side is it takes more energy to create the radio waves to make salt water burn.

If one day they can make this work where less energy is needed to burn salt water then fine, but as it stands today, it's nothing but a science project.

I didn't see anything regarding energy in vs energy out.

I would assume he's guessing

It was the first assumption I made about the project too

Not guessing, there is a thread over on the FOH board with several video links.

But let me ask you this smart guys, do you think the device used to create the radio waves is getting power from thin air? I'd bet not, I'd bet he has it plugged into is 120v 15a circuit in his home, and I'd bet he isn't coming close putting out 110v from his contraption. If I recall in one of the video's someone mentions this, but yeah to an extent I'm guessing.

Guys, I'm not saying this isn't an awesome or great discovery, all I'm saying is if it takes more juice to make this reaction take place, then it isn't all that great.

why you getting snappy? I was just asking so I can review the data myself. I have the same suspicion.

well, you only need to be able to produce enough energy to start the process then hopefully it'll be self sustaining

That would be cool but I don't think that is remotely close to what this project is doing. the moment the radio waves stop, so does the reaction, now if he could generate enough power to run his RF generator, AND have extra, that would be golden. I also didn't catch what the exhaust is, if any but I'd assume "something" gets left over when the burn takes place.

if i am reading this right the reaction will expell O2. I do not see what the salt will generate.

I'm betting it'll produce chlorine gas, heh
