I agree. You knew he was going headhunting. His excuse was he was fighting for his spot on the roster. He made a bad decision and I'm glad the league is setting a tone like this for the remainder of the season. Good clean hits are fine and dandy but aiming for someones melon and leaving your feet in order to do it is ridiculous. To his credit he stopped power skating and did "glide" the last little bit but everyone on the ice knew what he meant to do.

even if the hit itself was clean, it was still a dirty play

the guy had given up the puck on the other side of the net
sure he was admiring his pass, but the hit was WAY late, regardless of headhunting or not
