open discussion for bashing me
go ahead. i want to hear your thoughts! bring it.
my son watched family guy. I didn't stop him because he was already halfway into it, and he was laughing. it makes me laugh too, so I just went on. his dad is angry because he heard him singing the jew song peter sings and I guess it was inappropriate...so what...am I so wrong? what would you have done? I don't know. he's eleven. and he's pretty cool. should I just tell him to stop singing songs from shows? I think so.

Anyway....if his dad found the song inappropriate I'm guessing it was in some way. I haven't heard it.(Only watched the show once or twice.) I don't know what your relationship is with him, but if it were me I'd talk to him about it. There are some things on T.V. I let my 15 & 12 year old watch that contain questionable comments, songs, etc. However I do explain to them that repeating that kind of thing or acting in a similar manner is not acceptable. They usually already know why and I don't need to explain but when they don't....I do.

Nothing else has worked so far,
So I’ll wish upon a star,
Wondrous sparkling speck of light,
I need a Jew...
Lois makes me take the rap,
Because our checkbook looks like crap,
Since I can't give her a slap,
I need a Jew...
Where to find
A bum or stien or stein
To teach me how to whine
And do my taxes...
Though by many they're abhorred,
Hebrew people I’ve adored,
Even though they killed my lord,
I need a Jew!

He's 11. He's gonna be hearing all sorts of off color jokes very soon and even telling them to you. He may as well learn early on his mom has a good sense of humor. As long as he's mature enough to know its kinda wrong its all good.
Re: open discussion for bashing me
he hears worse then that from his classmates.
btw Family guy is getting sued for that song by the wish upon a star song rights owners. <anti-semitic remark goes here>

i would invite your dad in and covertly turn on South Park and then see what he thinks about Family Guy

Re: open discussion for bashing me
I wouldn't let my kid watch Family Guy to be honest with you. Yeah, he'll go to school hearing much worse but to me that's no excuse to encourage it. Kids will grow up and do much worse and experience so much worse. I think as a parent I'd make it clear what I do and don't approve of and at least hope that my kid hears me when they have to experience those tough parts of life without me being present. In relation to Family Guy, maybe my kid will sneak off to his friend's house and watch it because he knows I don't approve, but also maybe he'll refrain from singing the jew song or handing his dog a bottle of vodka because he knows that's why I don't approve.

hopefully he'd think family guy sucks
i think a child should take in all the information they can get. you just tell him what's the line between fantasy and reality. tell him that anything's funny in a certain light but if he went and sang that song to jewish people that nobody'd be laughing with him. if you try and block him from it he's just going to go to a friend's house and watch it and hate you for not letting him watch it
