Just buy some free weights. Cheaper, better, and you'll use them more often.

I've had a mini bench that has 4 different incline settings and a set of dumbbells ranging from five to forty pounds. But then again, I have been doing low weight circuit work outs and not body building type stuff. I suppose it depends on what you are looking to accomplish.

I've heard a lot of good things about the bowflex and that other new machine they've got where the "weight" is in some sort of tension disc or something.

I've only got free weights at the moment but I've slid a bit and don't use them much anymore, one thing about dropping some cash on something like a bowflex is motivation. I know if I bought one the cost would dang near guilt me into using it often.

that's kind of how it worked with josh . . . he and his soon-to-be roommate keath went halfsies on a used one and spent $800 each, and he's kind of a tightwad sometimes so you know he's going to make damn sure to use it and get his money's worth. :P

Freeweights if you know how to lift properly.

Bowflex if you do not.

I've used both and I prefer freeweights for the versatility.

My in laws have a Bowflex in my garage. Gid's friend Tony gave it to them (along with a whole apartment of furniture) when he moved to another state. They got it...5 or 6 years ago I assume and have never used it. I want them to toss the damn thing so bad, it takes up too much room.

Ive had alot of bowflex gear in the past, I wouldstill say free weights, tho I did like their dumbell set and their new push up thing is clever but not worth it imo.

Stay away from the Bowsux.

For half the price you can go to Wal-Mart and buy an adjustable bench seat and a set of dumbbells. With that combination you can work every part of your body.

Except the bar will likely not hold over 150lbs and the bench will be uncomfortably thin and wobbly.

Don't buy a piece of shit bench at walmart with sand weights and a shitty bar.

I was about to suggest the same as Tikker. Newspapers and want-ads are always FULL of them things usually BARELY used if used at all for very cheap prices.

darcler I am jealous of the bowflex in your garage. The commercials for those things are very convincing. I am sure I would hate looking at it in my own place, but if I had a garage and there were a bowflex in it, I would be pretty happy. I would use it.

I want a good treadmill.

I have weights and use those every few days. I just want to be able to run without having to go out into this shitty neighborhood.

get freeweights and invest some time in learning proper form. i have both a bowflex and free weights - and i can say that the only thing i use the bowflex for now is just for the bench it came with - i lay on that when i lift my free weights. also, you dont need to benchpress to work your chest, you could just do a dumbbell press and get the same results. anyway, if youre actually interested in what i have to say, im a nutrition major and i work out a lot so if you have any questions pm me or something. =p
