Game 1:

Image

I didn't expect us to slap them with our cocks this hard. Their streak was something that I figured meant they wouldn't be pushed over in their first game so easily.

Highest win margin in any World Series game ever. I think their downfall in their first game is having not played in a longer time period than the Sox. Game 2 should be much more interesting, and I don't expect as large as a blowout with their batters having seen a real pitcher now.

When I was a kid I was getting used to the idea that Boston/New England teams were going to suck for the rest of my life...so much better now.

wtf they putting in the water up there?!?

Pats - Destroying everything in their path, with the best team in the history of the NFL (debatable).
Sox - Destroying the Rock's in the World Series.
Boston College - Ranked 2 in the BCS...
Celtics - Looking DAMN good.

I'd care more about the Celtics and Bruins if I could stomach watching such boring sports.

I'd GLADLY go see them live, but not on TV. I probably wouldn't even go watch the Bruins because Hockey is so godawful-boring the more I think about that.

I just thought it was a northern/southern thing, but I tried SO hard to get into Hockey and just couldn't. It is as boring as soccer. Imagine watching basketball for 2 hours only to see 4 dudes make ONE basket each if you're lucky during the entire game for a final score of like 8-0. No thank you.

Watching baseball has become that boring for me as well. I still follow the sport but the games cannot keep my attention until the end of the game anymore.

I enjoy watching basketball, especially college basketball. It just seems more exciting.

But, back to the topic of the thread...God damn what an asswhipping!!!!!

Now I've always been a fan of baseball more than anything else..lately of course following basketball more due to the fact that regardless of what I want to watch, basketball is likely going to be on my tv during the season.. but I've never, ever heard someone call a sport like basketball or hockey boring - if anything, baseball would rank the more 'boring' of the lot, as far as watching goes, only to be outdone by golf. Typically, people are going to find the sport they understand the least the most boring.. but as far as action goes, the noted two are the most tame.

That said, the Red Sox are doing fantastic, and good on them though I've never been a fan - regardless, I don't think it's something that can be jumped on quite yet with saying that they're stomping them based on one game, especially considering the downtime the Rockies had, which could throw any team off kilter. I'm not a Rockies fan either, but I think the stomping last night was (from what little of the game I watched) more due to the Rockies awful play (and pitching, holy crap that was a terrible first 2 innings that I was actually awake for.)

I don't know which team to cheer for in this series really; I've always been an NL girl. I'm not a fan of Colorado like I said, but they're long overdue for their time in the sun, as the Sox were last year.

Ok Gyps, imagine this...

Watching 10 guys try to do something like say, throw a paper wad into a garbage can while running around a room for 2 hours and not accomplish a fucking thing, or maybe they actually get it in there once or twice.

Or like I said, imagine watching a whole basketball game where only a few guys actually make a basket.

No thank you.

It has nothing to do with comprehension and everything to do with accomplishments. Too much failure in hockey to keep my attention. Same thing with soccer. Remember that scene in "Something about Mary" where the dude on the braces is trying to pick up his keys? Fuck that hahaha

Baseball has become the same way.

I suppose the thing with Hockey is that the goals are more meaningful. I don't watch it that much during the regular season, but playoff Hockey is like no other sport.

that was actually in response to Harrison, not you Ouchy =p

I don't enjoy watching hockey or soccer, never have.. but there's certainly a lot more going on than throwing a ball over and over again while someone tries to hit it and run in circles, which is essentially what baseball is. The first example you gave reminds me more of baseball than any other sport, and baseball has always been my favorite - it's just not an 'action packed' sport. It's one single action at a time, rather than multiple actions going on at once

That's all I'm saying really.

18 seconds later

OH shit, I can't believe they brought it all the way back down the court and scored!!

here we go, we scored again, we're the best!

I've played every sport possible, including hockey.(hello, I'm a dude) I understand all of them pretty damned well.

I just find more interest in Baseball and Football. :dunno:

Basketball is only something I will play, not ever watch.

Golf, hockey, soccer, track, and basketball I just can't stand to watch for whatever reason. I'm a football and baseball kind of guy. I'll watch any MMA too...been into that these past few years pretty big.

The average SEC football game average about 4 scores and you still watch that.

Well that I can definitely agree on - finding more interest in something is different than the sport being woefully boring overall ;)

Everytime Iv'e tried watching NHL I turn it off because......I can never see the puck so I have no idea whats happening

Seriously I cant tell if a goal has been scored until I hear the crowd or the siren goes off, maybe its just my eyes.

I used to go to hockey games all the time when I was younger because we had the Admirals.. I never really got into it because when we went to games it always seemed there was more fighting than playing which you don't really see as much in other sports.

It definitely wasn't boring, it just wasn't my thing I guess. One of my friends growing up, her sister and her sister's fiance moved away to somewhere cuz he went pro or something. hell if I remember his name, Bobby something.. but they were huge fanatics, the whole family.

The coordination hockey takes I have a huge respect for, I just never got into it.
