Ebay and China

Postby Ouchyfish » Mon Oct 29, 2007 8:20 pm

So I have my Wii Points card up for auction with like 10 hours left and I finally get a bid but they're from China. Is it easier to get ganked by the Chinese and left with no recourse or am I relatively safe? I have never sold anything on Ebay before so not sure how safe the dealings are. (Paying through PayPal.)

Not trying to be mean to Chinese, etc, just don't want to get fucked out of 50 bucks lol.

Ebay is a pretty safe means of trade - they have very strict rules and if you say exactly how you want to be paid they can track it and you can do it all through paypal, including create the shipping label so that it's all tracked to one source; a lot of people don't like paypal and that's fine, but if anything goes funny you can track it easily and say hey they recalled their payment before it was cashed etc.

People buy and sell on ebay overseas all the time - does the person have feedback? Are they aware of the shipping price difference for shipping to China? I can't really foresee any problems any more than I can with a customer from america.

Odd, it was mostly the American players I had problems with. The Asians, even though they had to deal with an unprecedented amount of racism and bigotry, were always nice to me.

5 hours doesn't strike me as really that long of a time for response

anything over 48 hours starts to get in the range of almost too long

Complain after a week. Seriously, a few days is nothing.

You can set your auctions to U.S. only, you know....

    He paid. =)

Weird thing is, he is registered in China but asked me to send it to some san jose address.

Why make it complicated? I could've just emailed the damn number! lol

They pay more for it in foreign countries, likely. Some countries don't have places where they can safely purchase things of that nature, and so people like IGE etc. make out like bandits.

Chinese people (or this one in general) apparently suck the cock when it comes to leaving motherfuckin feedback. The son of a bitch never left any.

Ask him to kindly leave feedback.
Some people just don't pay attention to it. Every time I have asked someone to leave it, they do. :dunno:

A lot of people take weeks to leave feedback. As long as he didn't leave negative feedback, it doesn't matter. I have plenty of people who don't bother to feedback. Honestly, it's not that important in the grand scheme of things.

the ebay rating system is so fucked up

if you're a perfect buyer, you still don't dare leave negative feedback for a shitty seller cause he's going to give you negative right back, when you don't need deserve it

If you are a power seller, it's supposed to be about percentages. If you have 1000 sales, and 2 people suck, you can negative them effectively, even if the reciprocate. A bigger problem is people who suck just start new ebay accounts.
