dude i just watched a trailer for TR, it looks badass, impressive story line. is it played similar to EQ or WOW, where you run around and do small groups or solo?

You can solo/group. There is some limited instancing, but it is very very well done. The control points where you have to fight off Bane attacks are awesome fun.
Fast paced combat, quick travel times. I am thoroughly enjoying it, and I've been playing since June.

it's somewhere between City of Heroes and Planetside, but toss in some WoW and EQ style quests to get armour/weapons etc etc

I did some playing in beta, and didn't really care for it.

I don't place much value in that review as he already seems to have a bias against MMOs in general.
