well I was watching it and the girl kept trying to take her picture down from the bulletin boards in the hallways of school, and she kept finding it was still there. I was a little jealous, I thought, "I wouldn't mind being that popular." LOL...I thought it was a terrible PSA for that reason.

The ones for drugs are getting worse by the day. Talking dogs?? Ugh.. PSA's make me sigh.

pretty sure a kid's parents are the only PSA that might be effective, and that's on the small chance that the kids actually listen to their parents.

I disagree. Those say no to drugs ads back in the 80's is why I never fucked with them. Especially the ones where they showed what happened to you if you used them.

Not me! PSA's did nothing for me. My Father put the fear of God in me against drugs. I was coming up as a kid IN THE MIDDLE of the drug war and when it started and I was too afraid to do anything because of my Dad. If it weren't for him back then, I'd have experimented probably sooner. I mean, he threatened our existence.

As it was though, I smoked my first joint at 18. There were kids in my high school doing it long before that and I wouldn't go near it.

My Dad really did scare the shit out of me. Still does.

even though i went to a large high school where i can't think of a single friend that didn't use drugs several times a week.

and i remember those commercials being really cheesy when i was a kid.

I smoked once in a while in high school, just as drinking. I didn't do it for any reason other than a release every couple months. The importance of being responsible while I did this was stressed to me by my parents & friends and has consequently carried on into my adult life. You will never catch me behind the wheel of a car while drunk & you will rarely catch me publicly intoxicated unless I am in the company of several friends.

I've never really done drugs, either. I think its why I'm never sick, and why nearing 40 I'm in great shape and will be around for a long while, barring meteor strike or death by soccer Mom in minivan with cellphone. I know too many druggies who looked worse than me at 25 and probably won't get past 50.

I'd rather live long and prosper and find my entertainment in a manner that doesn't effect my brain or body for the long term. I've yet to meet any type of druggie who isn't at minimum a tad bipolar, and at max totally fucked up.

Yup, it's judgemental and rude, and certainly mean, but on the flip side how the fuck do you get through to some people who are smart and ignore the simple facts in front of them? It's tough because you are cool and smart, Araby, but you went through a long period of 'far out in left fieldness', that unfortunately is a common occurance in California to quite a few people in my hometown.

Yup, agree. I've always hated PSAs, even if I agree with some messages.
