Thin is not in

This, as well as some of the idiotic posts from certain people here really makes me wonder if we need to re-evaluate how we try to sell things.

Most of these models are under 100 pounds, and over 5'7". Some are living on lettuce and diet soda to keep their weight this low, as well as whatever speed type drugs they take.

I really wish we'd lose the modeling setup to have women look like 12 year old boys in pictures. Few men find this attractive, and really most women probably don't like the setup, I'd wager.

I like this idea that Barkan proposes in this article, of a minimum of 19% BMI to model. No more of these 88 pound 5'9 women.

Not only do some photographers and designers seek thin models, they can use image-enhancing software to make them appear thinner still. And those unreal images are sold to all women as the beauty ideal.

When Barkan spoke about the issue during a television interview, he was flooded with phone calls from girls suffering with anorexia.

Barkan led the charge against the pressure on models to be ultra-thin, and in 2004 Israel became the first nation to pass laws requiring modeling agencies to hire only healthy models who have a body mass index -- a measure of body fat -- of 19 or above. That means that a 5'9" woman would have to weigh at least 129 pounds.

In August, 22-year-old Uruguayan model Luisel Ramos died during Fashion Week in Montevideo after reportedly surviving on lettuce and diet drinks.

Uh...she died...how is that surviving?

The ultrathin model craze is just that...crazy. I'm sure none of you watch Dancing With the Stars but the first one out this season was swimsuit model Josie Maran. She had absolutely no muscle tone at all. She could barely walk across the floor, seriously, much less do dance moves.
Inside each person lives two wolves. One is loyal, kind, respectful, humble and open to the mystery of life. The other is greedy, jealous, hateful, afraid and blind to the wonders of life. They are in battle for your spirit. The one who wins is the one you feed.

That's way too thin... I'm into slender women of course, but there is a such thing as "too skinny."

As I recall, that model that died had a BMI so low the only other place it gets seen is in like Etheopia in people dying of starvation due to famine and drought.

I'm sorry, but dying-of-starvation-thin is pretty damn far from sexy....
