Time to start thinking about the presidential race

Postby The Kizzy » Mon Nov 19, 2007 10:34 pm

For some reason, whenever I see a Ron Paul 2008 sign, I think he is a porn star. That's wrong, isn't it?

Anyway, I'm leaning to voting for Hillary because she is a woman. But then I think, maybe I should look into what they believe in.

Can anyone give me a brief unbiased synopsis of their views on the issues? Thanks

p.s. sorry to exclude you mindia

If you vote for a woman just because she's a woman then you're a retard of unparalleled proportions. Sorry to be so blunt. You have a brain... use it, thx.

Nope. Everyone here is biased. We can all give you our biased views. I suggest you read the issues on each candidates personal site and go from there. The first order of business would be voting in your states primary.

Also, since you live in Texas, I'd consider registering GOP, since Texas will go Republican and your best chance to make an impact is to vote in the primary.

Anybody hear Sean Hannity last night?

God, I really don't like him usually but I can tolerate it, he makes some good points. But..last night he was raising a ruckus about women voting for Hillary JUST because she's a woman. He claims all the callers they asked to call in to answer are saying "I'm voting for her *because* she is a woman."

this infuriated him!

Well..I didn't even know if I believed it. I do now...

Ron Paul is nothing like a porn star. Read about him if you're unfamiliar.

FINALLY they wrote something in the paper about how much money/popularity he's raising in the Lowcountry!!!

Yes, but just think of how many will NOT vote for her just because she's a woman.

yeah. i actually agree with this.

i go libertarian so whatever, i do find it sick that there are many, particularly in the south, where Southern Baptist Ministers can't even be women (the largest religious group int he south and possibly the country) that people will not vote for her simply because she is a woman.... it is equally reactionary, and unfortunate. though i wonder if being reactionary ina manner that offers a woman access to power that she has never had before os better than acting ina reactionary way that keeps her form that power.

I don't trust Hillary at all. There are many, many women in this country that would make a better president than her.

It's wrong either way you look at it.

If you like what she stands for, Kizzy, vote for her. But voting for her just because she's a woman is just as silly a reason as voting for someone because their eyes are blue. They both have about the same relevance as to how good a president they'd be.

There are hundreds of thousands of people who would make much, much better Presidents than the half dozen clowns we are offered. That doesn't matter, unfortunately, and we solely have the choices that we have.

I'm intrigued by Ron Paul, I'll admit since I don't care for anyone on the GOP side. Rudy is great as a hawk, but he's pro choice which I dislike.

Joe Biden is the smartest and most qualified guy on the DNC side, but also is a ticking time bomb, and can't garner enough support despite kicking ass in the debates. If I had to choose a Democrat besides him, it'd be Obama. Hillary is more of the same, and Edwards is too in bed with the Trial Lawyers. He's the most corrupt of all of the players, but gets the least media attention for it.

Romney rubs me the wrong way, Fred is fat and lazy, and Rudy is going to be killed by Skeletons in the closet. I like Mike Huckabee, and would love to see him win the nomination, but I'm not sure if he has the firepower and backing to do it. He also reminds me of Bob Dole, and is a generally nice person. Unfortunately, nice people finish last in politics.

We'll see how things play out. Four years ago at this time Howard Dean appeared to be a juggernaut headed for victory. All it takes is one miscue to change the scenery dramatically.

I was talking to my dad the other night about all this. He said so far he likes Huckabee the best. The problem is... does he have enough power, influence, and charisma to beat Hilldebeast? It's going to come down to Hilldebeast vs. <the most popular repub>, and I'm going to back up and vote for whoever has the greatest chance of beating the Hilldebeast. I just hope that whoever that turns out to be, that he isn't going to be in the pockets of big oil execs, and does something about strengthening our borders... amongst other things.

Barack Obama is extremely charismatic and an awesome speaker. Very reminiscent of Bill. However, he lacks experience. Maybe that's a good thing with the way politics are. Hilary on the other hand will have influence from Bill, which would be awesome. I'm leaning towards Obama but if Hilary wins the primaries I don't think it'll be a total loss. It'll be like having Bill back in office.

Influence from Bill is about the only thing that cunt has going for her. If I could take Bill again, I probably would. But if it has to come with the price of putting that thing in office? Ehh....no thanks.

She doesn't ever give a straight answer, she supported giving ILLEGAL immigrants licenses in New York (Then later rescinded support I hear, making her a flip-flopping douche in that case.), she has no experience with leadership (and a term with the senate seat she finagled certainly doesn't count) etc. etc.

Respect is earned. She hasn't earned any from me. She was lucky enough to have married a governor turned president, and from there has done nothing to earn anything of her own. She is riding on the wave of her name.

First of all, you can't exclude me from anything. Secondly, I agree with Harrison on this... respect has to be EARNED, and she doesn't deserve ANY respect from ANYBODY. She's a liar, a socialist, a wishy-washy flip-flopper, she can't answer the tough questions with a straight answer, and she's a criminal. I will call her Hilldebeast all I want, and in this thread nonetheless. ;) So don't take this as a personal slam against YOU. It has nothing to do with YOU. Just respect my opinions and everybody else's.
