My favorite arcade game as a kid was Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I spent many a quarter on that one every Saturday until it came out on the NES. A few of my other favorites are Star Wars: The Trilogy with the surround sound seat cabinet, Cruisin' USA, and the old school Pac-Man and Ms. Pac-Man.

Forgot about that one... I played it quite a bit also.
Re: Best Arcade Game
Ooooh.. forgot about Virtua Fighter. Damn that game was incredible when it first appeared on the scene. That game was the whole reason I bought a Sega Saturn.
Re: Best Arcade Game
I've said before that if I win the lottery or something and end up getting some nice finished basement gameroom and got one arcade machine for it, it would be Rampage.

I always liked After Burner. Non stop barrel rolls until a stray missle takes you out.

In honor of this thread....here's a pac-man Christmas tree.

Inside each person lives two wolves. One is loyal, kind, respectful, humble and open to the mystery of life. The other is greedy, jealous, hateful, afraid and blind to the wonders of life. They are in battle for your spirit. The one who wins is the one you feed.

Tron was always one of my favorites.
For to win one hundred victories in one hundred battles is not the acme of skill. To subdue the enemy without fighting is the acme of skill.

Re: Best Arcade Game

Fighting game players compete in various tourneys across the world for instance Texas Showdown, Omaha Fighting Tourney, Midwest Championships, Super Battle Opera (Japan obviously with a ridiculous name like that) and the big one which is Evolution. Basically, if you hit top 20 at each tourney you get ranked (out of 300-500 people per game). Ranking is really just an epeen thing. You don't get any money unless you are top 3. I'm only top 3 in Guilty Gear, in which I place 3rd overall and first for team America. Japan usually jablowns everything except Marvel Capcom 2 (I'm 20th) in which 1 American kid has been reigning undisputed champ since forever.
Back to 3s, I used Yun, Chun Li, Ken and Urien. Yun and Chun Li are my best.

So, you flew all over the world to compete in these tourneys?
Re: Best Arcade Game
I never went to the ones in france, germany or japan. Just the US ones. All in all between prize money and money matches I paid for all of my trips and made a little extra side cash. Nothing to call home about but it was a lot of fun that didn't cost me anything.
