Well, seems like today is the "Tea Party" moneybomb for Ron Paul. It will be interesting to see how much money gets raised, and if he'll get as much/more media attention as he did last time. It will probably beat all the political fundraising records. I think I'll donate a few bucks later in the day.

In a 24-hour period on December 16, the campaign raised $6.026 million dollars, surpassing the one-day record of $5.7 million held by John Kerry.

During the day, over 58,000 people contributed to Dr. Paul’s campaign, including 24,940 first-time donors. Over 118,000 Americans have donated to the campaign in the fourth quarter.

The $6 million one-day total means the campaign has raised over $18 million this quarter, far exceeding its goal of $12 million.

Yeah, that's because he got a big jump in poll numbers from the coverage of the last money bomb, and the people in charge of the media don't want that to happen again. I wonder if the newspaper and Lieberman endorsements were purposely put out on Sunday in order to have something to drown out the largest political fundraising day in history? I wouldn't put it past them.

You'd think 6+ million dollars and things like this happening all over the world (yes, world, not just our country) would be worthy of a bit more news time.

You know it's strange.. from every angle with people I talk to, Ron Paul has no chance.. but in Jacksonville, so far he is the *only* one who I've seen with any support via signs, bumper stickers, etc, democrat or republican. Well I take that back, I think I've seen one Romney sticker, but just the one and anything else has been Paul.

I think if people who actually *do* want him to have a chance get out there and vote instead of just thinking about it he has a very real chance, but I think it's going to be one of those that's a matter of people not just letting it happen because it'll be tight.

If you live in South Carolina, and your heart is with a Democratic Candidate...essentially you are "wasting" your vote.

I refuse to pay attention to the media, who they place as frontrunners or what they have to say after the debates. It's pointless. I knew from the beginning Ron Paul was my man and I've never felt so strongly about anyone else, and I've voted in every election since I was 18.

You don't donate millions of dollars. You donate a few dollars to a person you believe will help create the government of the future you want. This is called a grass roots movement, and it's a way to enact change.

Unfortunately, many people feel as you, and don't understand how the political process works. Ron Paul has a pretty on point message, and a lot of supporters. It's a shame the only time you here his soundbites is due to his anti Iraq War message, or his exchanges with Mccain and Giulianin about the war that put him in a negative light. It's not completely surprising, though, as the mainstream media is selective, and certainly biased.

I've given what I can...only on three occasions. I had to give Sunday of course...

but the first time I picked up signs/bumper stickers/literature I dropped a $20 in the box...
and my friends can't give more than that either and they're running the campaign! ^_^

yes, millions of dollars to a politician rather than directly to a cause maybe seems wrong, but if those millions to a politician end in billions or trillions being redirected in the right direction, then it was money well spent

Who decides which candidates get money, and how the money is divided up, and where does that money come from? Id be pretty pissed to have some of my money going to promote Romney or Giuliani or Clinton when I consider them immensely dangerous people.

I have real issues with the money being taken out of my check. Essentially, I'm giving it to people who are less fortunate, many of which are *actually* able to work. If I could opt out of having taxes withheld I would...I don't think we should pay those kinds of taxes at all...
