Good, you're the type of player they're looking to market for. Awesome-looking graphics but terrible animations, like the new EQ models have. I love the graphical style of Warcraft 3 and I love the detail they put into fluid character animation. It makes the world feel more alive.

ok i jsut watched the movie and i'd like to further my opinion about bad animations. the monsters are ok i guess but the people just look stiff and bored. how does that appeal to anyone?
i think that movie blows away anything i have seen in WoW thus far. The voiceovers also look excellent. Not to mention the combat AI really has me interested.
Does Wow have a very involved combat AI?
I'm glad to see the days of hte MT, cheal rotation coming to an abrupt end.

I'm sold on EQ2 - "NPC's will fight with group tactics of their own" that's some pretty badass AI.
I predict that WoW will go the way of DAoC and the other games that "were going to put an end to EQ" How many of them have there been so far?
Don't get me wrong, maybe WoW will be sweet too... but I think I'm gonna try EQ2 first... Everything I've seen thus far on both games has been great - but IMO EQ2 is "better."
Hell, they're even keeping the "story line" alive by setting EQ2 500 years in the furture of the original EQ.
The only issue I am going to have to my PC power - right now there's no way in hell I would be able to support EQ2 on this machine - but I need to upgrade anyway, so this is my excuse.

I played all of the other so-called EQ killers and none of them compare to WoW. Don't judge before you play though. EQ2 could be awesome and it could suck hardcore.
I think the advantage to WOW is that they had the foresight to recruit high-ranking EQ people like Tigole, etc to help them carve out a proper game.
I also think that I've seen too many good things on both games to decide. Everyone who plays EQ knows it's not about AI or quests or graphics, it's about community. Whichever has a more robust community will prosper, and only time can tell which it will be.
I have no doubt in my mind this far along in beta that WoW will be a good game, but WON'T be an EQ killer. All those shittalking faggots over at FoH and all the ubar websites have praised every new MMOG coming along as the final nail in EQ's coffin, and not a godamn one has delivered.
These same cumburping cockravagers ran their sucks to no end before WoW even beta'd about how kickass it would be and how EQ is fuxored blah blah blah... and where are they now? Knee deep in beta, and keeping their moufs shut. I haven't seen one big write up from any of the furor's, thott's etc claiming this game to be an EQ killer.

I've never proclaimed any game to be an EQ killer but WoW is the closest any has gotten. Right now WoW needs serious balancing and a lot of things added. I seriously don't see this going live until 2005. There's a LOT of stuff not even implemented yet and it's quickly approaching the end of summer. My biggest gripe so far has to be Blizz's tech support...it's ass-tastic, like Sony-style asstastic.
everyone's tech support in every MMORPG is going to be bad. it will never be good for this reason, and we'll use EQ as an example. there are hundreds of thousands of players right now in EQ. how many employees does SoE have on their tech team? I dunno, a few a server, right? So unless a company hires like 100,000 tech support people, it's always going to be slow.

It's beta, they do not have a CSR staff implemented, and the servers are run by the dev team.
WOW is a pure EQ clone, just set in the Warfcraft Universe with a few tangents. If WOW takes off, it'll mean the two big grossing post-EQ fantasy MMOs will be almost total EQ copies, DAOC and this. That does not bode well for companies trying new things....

I saw a special on the NSA the other night. They were talking about this supercomputer they had for monitoring communications etc. Supposedly one of the strongest in the world. The guy working on it said it could handle everything except EQ2 beta.

There's a lot that I find myself disliking about EQ2 between the Luclin 2.0 character models/animations, gamplay decisions, etc., but absolutely needing to shell out cash to substantially upgrade my computer (or buy an entirely new one more likely) just to play it is a huge turn-off.
As excited as I am about WoW, I don't think I'd be half as interested if it required massive upgrades on my part just to run without seriously chugging.
I hear there are some lag issues in areas like in character-heavy city areas, but that it's usually just temporary while the area is working on loading. Not sweating that. I'll just have to see for myself.
Otherwise, I've been hearing good things, graphical lag-wise, and I'm fairly confident that my system (even though it's almost 2 years old now. it's an antique~) will run it well enough without requiring any upgrades.
Suppose doubling up on RAM and/or a new video card wouldn't hurt either, but I think I'll just wait and see before spending any money.
