Stolen Car

Postby Ginzburgh » Mon Dec 31, 2007 9:35 am

So, my car was stolen right out of my driveway last night. After going up and down the street to each of my neighbors houses, it looks like everyone's car had been rifled through, mine was the only one stolen.

My question is, my car is a lease, if it is not recovered does the insurance company pay off the lease and I am no longer responsible for any payment? Or is a stolen car regarded as a "early lease termination" and I am held financially responsible for a certain amount?

I don't see how having your car stolen justifies your absence here.

Yeah, your first 2 steps should be: 1) filing a police report (because your insurance company will demand that, if nothing else), and 2) contacting your insurance company.

Well, this is where paying extra a month to go with a really GOOD insurance company pays off, as opposed to seeking out the absolute lowest rate from Fly-By-Nite Insurance or whatever.

I asked the police what the chances of recovery are. He said "we recover 2% of all stolen cars and of those 2%, none are recovered in drivable condition".

I came to find out later in the day that every car on my street was broken into, my car was the only car stolen (flattered). The cop said it's pretty likely a heroin addict stole my car, drove it to Bridgeport (which is a haven for illegal activity 20 miles away from my house) and sold it to a chop shop for a couple hundred bucks. According to him, heroin and oxy is rampant among 19-25 year olds. It doesn't discriminate either, rich kids, poor kids it's just everywhere.

So I guess I should start looking for a new car. And an alarm system.

Whatever. /shrug

Addicts are fucking awesome!

I wish I could personally go out and murder addicts to rid this world of them. I could make a fucking living killing shitbags in New Bedford alone.

sucks

around here, you're generally just responsible for whatever your insurance deductible is.

stolen cars also get recovered a lot more around here too, most times it's just joy riders (or more likely, an indian just grabs the nearest car to drive somewhere, then steals another to drive back)

Damn aren't you the internet tough guy? I heard about how you were going to own up that little kid on halloween though, that was impressive. But prior to going out and dealing with someone who might fight back you may be best served practicing on little old ladies (with walkers just to be safe). Once you are comfy with that you might be able to pursue your dream of becoming The Punisher.

If that should fall through though I have every confidence that you could make a mint by giving dating advice...

Oh and Happy New Year to everyone!

quick somebody, help! the internet attention has been diverted from harrison! oh I know, quickly turn it into the only thing you know gets you any attention!

sorry you got your car stolen ginz.. on a lease its not surprising that your car would be targeted due to how new it would be.. on leased cars they require you to have full coverage though don't they? i'm sure you're not the first case of this.. surely they have ways around it; keep us updated =\

Nice try but sorry I don't do drugs other than blood pressure meds and the occasional advil. See being retired military tends to make one frown upon illegal drug use. One day when you get a job you will understand stuff like that. And no, being the resident laughing stock on a message board does not constitute a job.

Now if thats the best you could come up with please return once your testicles drop.

Sorry to hear about your car, Ginz. Thought all leases carried gap insurance to cover whatever normal insurance didnt. Maybe that was just when I had a lease, I dunno

Regardless of the gap insurance, I think I can get away with just paying my $500 deductible. We'll see.

I know there are cliques on this board and I don't really want to get into that.

But I have a feeling that living in New Bedford your whole life must make for a terribly jaded existence. Luckily I only endured it for the first 18 years. This is a small town of less than 100,000 that has maybe 20 or 30 large poor housing projects due to inept local and state government policies that promote single families and punish couples. There's enormous crime, drugs, prostitution, and poverty. Welfare and disability fraud is rampant which does nothing but keep poor families poor and drug dealers happy. The crime is unbearable; for such a small town you can hear police sirens every night in every area of the south, west, and east end.

Amazingly, the despair changes dramatically just by crossing a bridge. Neighboring suburbs like Fairhaven, Dartmouth, Acushnet, Freetown, Mattapoisett, etc have great areas that are wonderful to live in. New Bedford though is like a self-contained bubble of filth and hopelessness.

I feel for anyone that is stuck there.

So using your logic every retired military person must use drugs? Yet another lame attempt by you to bolster your pathetic existence. Whats next after you wipe out the addicts? Vets maybe?

Have you ever stopped to think why 99% of what you post is so hate filled? Over the years I've been on these boards I have seen a few useful posts by you but the VAST majority is filled with venom.

Well at least in this post those testicles we spoke of earlier finally dropped, straight into your purse.
