New PC

Postby togusa » Fri Jan 04, 2008 7:15 pm

So I'm thinking about building a new PC. It's been a while since I have even looked at hardware and I feel a little bit out of the loop and nervous to buy without a lot of opinions. I want to build something with a good bit of staying power, but I also don't want to throw money around like it's nothing. These are some parts I have been looking at and checking out reviews for, what do you guys think?

I am 100% open to any suggestions, I haven't looked at memory yet as the amount of brand names out there is somewhat overwhelming, again any input is much appreciated.

Just buy a prebuilt system & add a video card.

I'm definitely doing that next time around myself.

The little bit of difference you might notice isn't worth paying 3x the money for the system.

about the worst part of that is the fact that you are getting Vista Home I suppose. You'd be better off with XP Pro.

That made me think for a second back to Mushkin... are they still around and making quality products?

Yes, Mushkin still makes really good RAM.

What kind of specs do you intend you new computer to have? What is your preferred price range and what is your max price your willing to spend?

I suppose I'd like to spend around $1,000.. I want a rig that will play CoD4 Crysis etc and be a stable gaming machine for 4 years or so..
