For once I may just love Comcast's shitty service

Post by Harrison »

My phone has been out (through comcast) all day.

The driver that was supposed to follow us rear ended my friend today on the way to Boston. He couldn't get a hold of me and so went on without me this morning.

I got spared because Comcast fucking sucks :arms:

Both cars are fine, everyone except one as well. The stupid bitch who didn't put on a seatbelt, coincidentally named Molly, hit her head. Karma has bad aim. (Molly was my ex, the only one I hate and will punch in the throat if I ever see her again.)

Phone was out, missed my ride to Boston as a result, someone took my place in the car pooling, they got hit by the car following them up.

I was saved by Comcast's shitty service.

No, Karma has bad aim and hit the wrong Molly.

I would have been fine. I always wear my seatbelt. The stupid bitch in the back however, is in serious condition while no one else even has a scratch.

Why people don't wear a seatbelt is beyond me.

We have seatbelt laws in Canada. If you're the driver and someone in your car doesn't have their seatbelt on you could get a fine. So on top of ruining his car, your buddy would have a ticket too.

LOL

I never wear my seat belt unless I get the feeling that I should. I don't have a good reason for not wearing it, either. A police officer wrote me a ticket for not wearing it a few months ago. I should probably pay that and start wearing the damned thing. I truly do not know why it's not an issue for me and don't even care if you all flame me for it.

Also, I did not understand the initial post either. Thanks for clearing it up.

fuckin 200 bucks right down the shitter if they pull you over for it here. I wear mine like 3/4 of the time anyways though after a girl I knew got killed by a drunk driver while she was on her way to work at 6am, seatbelt woul dhave saved her

Oh, they also use that law as a way to catch drunk drivers a lot of the time by having a 'seatbelt checkpoint' at random times throughout the night haha

Law here too. I wear mine 99% of the time. There have been times where we drove down the street after visiting a friends house. We can see each others porches, there is a street in between us. We're close. It's also after I've been drinking. Seatbelts for a 30 second car ride isnt on my mind.

I refuse to start the car unless all passengers are wearing their seatbelts.

my car wont stop that annoying fucking beep unless everyone is buckled. I was tempted to unplug the sensor. WHen i started reading up on it, ford got "smart", they tied the air bag operation into the seat sensors. if i unplug the sensors = no air bags. not a big deal really because i wear my belts i just thought it was interesting.

I have a somewhat different perspective on it since my aunt died in a car accident because she was wearing her belt.

I still always buckle up, though.

I've heard of people dieing because of their seatbelts but that was usually in the 70's and the other cases, there really is no way to establish that they would have lived if they had not had their belts on unless the car was submerged and the belt malfunctioned and could not be cut loose or something.

This was 84. She died because someone skid on ice and completely smashed her driver seat area. The coroner said that if she wasn't buckled in she most likely would have survived because she would have slid away from the door (bench seat) instead of being pinned there.

I don't buy that.

She likely would have FLEW to the passenger side and smashed in an equally very violent way.

She wouldn't have "slid away" in a slow calm acceleration

Well, the odds of being saved by not wearing a belt as opposed to being killed or maimed by not wearing one are astronomical. You could probably find 20,000+ cases where wearing a seat belt saved someone's life for every 1 where it caused a problem.

I remember for a while in the 70s cars were rigged so that you couldn't even start them unless the seat belt was plugged in. Not 100% sure why that was changed. Could have been consumers just didn't like it at all, certainly. Story I heard a while back though was that some woman was trying to escape an attacker, could've gotten away if the car had started right off, but because she had no time/presence of mind to get the belt all the way on first, the guy caught up, smashed the window, dragged her out and she got beaten & raped. No clue if the story is true or not, and make no claim either way, but 'tis what I heard.

Dumbass....who said anything about calm or slow. Her legs would have still been under the console, so she'd probably had slipped sideways and banged into the dashboard. Messed up? Most definitely. Alive? Probably.

And who fucking cares if YOU buy it or not. She was MY aunt and I know how she died.

*shrug* I just don't see that violent of an impact being survivable if she died WITH a seatbelt on.

So Harrison finally got a degree and is now a specialist on the effects of body positions in accidents, etc without ever having a drivers license? Impressive.
