everyone is leaving. my friend the drifter wants to move there. the pastry chef is going to move there, also. my favorite bartender is from there and he's going back. I cared before he cut his hair, now I say "be gone with your skint head."

I think ive asked this before, but I cant remember. How close is Portland to like Mount Hood? I went there for a ski racing training camp one time when I was about 16 or 17 and that place was fucking beautiful. The people were kinda weird, well, just different I guess from what Im used to, not really weird so to say.

Mount Hood is 50 miles kinda east/southeast of Portland.

You can actually see it from within Portland, here's a picture:

Portland really is gorgeous, as is the first half or so of the Columbia River Gorge. Portland also has a truly awesome bookstore (Powell's, the biggest non-chain bookstore in the world), and the best seafood restaurant I've ever eaten at. (Jake's) If I'd gotten what I wanted, I'd have gone to college there straight out of high school (to Reed), rather than where I did go.

ya Hood was cool. The camp was in th emiddle of July. Gogo skiin on a glacier in a T shirt every day. People from alla round the world came to train there. My team was training 15 feet away from the Italian world cup team. was pretty cool. Actualy a couple weeks ago I ran into an old coach I had out there who had taken a job with the New Zealand national womens team and wanted me to come be a coach out there. Rofl, little too far for me.

I'll have to see if I can get around to getting some pictures from Crown point near the mouth of the gorge. Arlos is right, it's pretty spectacular. Another Portland thing is that we are the only city in the US with a volcano in city limits.
