Its one of those movies that I hated the first time I saw it, and the second.. but the more I watched it, the funnier it was

pure interest really, it was what was on tv.. thought maybe there was something i just didn't get the first time because the first time i watched it i was just so confused.. gave it another shot, thought it was funny the second time around, and every time i watched it it got more amusing

i was really confused as to what was so great about it, i didn't get if it was meant to be a movie with a plot or a spoof, if it was supposed to be in the 80s.. etc. nothing really clicked in my head about it when i was thinking about how all these people told me i had to see it because it was awesome.

i think it's supposed to be "real" humor. yunno... not based off punchlines, unrealistic situations and overacting. mostly just came off boring tho imo. i'd rather watch Waiting

I dono if it could count as 'real' humor though because no one acts like that or wears stuff like that.. even the geekiest kids know what decade it is which is where i got confused.. like the clothes and the dance were set in the 80's style, clearly.. but at the recital they did a late 90's song, or maybe it was even after 2000.. eh that doesn't matter anyway, i'm just saying ><

I think they wanted it to be timeless in a way, you couldn't really tell when it was exactly, Kip was using the internet yet like Gyps said the clothes and style were definitely from the 80's.

I remember laughing a LOT when I watched it and when it got big I felt like it got worn out. My son really thought it was funny...I was glad it was something he could enjoy at the time.
