This will be a first time experience for me going to a caucus. Oh joy, a 2 hour meeting with my neighbors rambling on about who they support? Woot. I wish we had a primary, it would be so much simpler.

Illinois had early primary voting that you could do, so I got my vote for Mr. Paul done in mid January and it took about 15 mins from start to finish. Not too bad. *nods*

There's a hell-ass lot of Ron Paul signs littered all over the place whenever I go for a drive, maybe the results will be surprising. @_@

I voted for Romney. I saw more volunteers holding Ron Paul signs up than any other candidate... Every freeway overpass had a Ron Paul poster on it, and damn near every intersection. lol

I just got back from my caucus, and wow, so many people there. Most of the literature being passed out was for things like county commissioner and such, but there was one young man handing out Ron Paul slim jims, which I gladly accepted as I said, "That's my man!"

I'll get to the specifics first. My precinct went 2 undecided, 2 Huckabee, 3 Paul, 6 McCain, 10 Romney. I'm one of seven delegates, and I think one of the other people who voted Paul is a delegate as well, but I'm not sure. So that makes 2 of 7 delegates Ron Paul supporters.

The caucus was at a school, and about 24 precincts were there. They weren't expecting NEARLY as many people. We got there 30 minutes early and already the parking lot was full and people were parking on the side of the streets. It was supposed to start at 7, and people were still piling through the doors at 7:15. They didn't know how to handle it. Here's some pictures of the auditorium they had us go into, where they explained how the night would work:





You can see people standing in the back of the top rows, and the stage was packed too. There were people in the halls leading into the auditorium as well. I did see a good amount of people with Ron Paul stickers and such. My precinct had mostly older crowd, but there were a lot of young folks there in other precincts. I'm fairly sure Ron Paul took some of them.

I'll vote for him if he runs as an independent or for the LP, but otherwise I don't think I'll even bother voting in the actual elections. Giving a shit doesn't appear to pay very high dividends. :\

you know, it made me so sad yesterday - i was in doing some work for my old boss, and we were talking politics and he voted for romney. i cringed and asked why, and his reasoning was 'he just likes the guy'

when i mentioned ron paul, he said "that guys a nutjob." i asked why, and asked if it was because the media says so - he of course said "yeah, pretty much." we kept on talking about what his (my boss) principles are, and pretty much everything he believes in is on the same page with Paul - so I then ask him if he's ever even bothered to read any of Paul's stances and he said no

I mean this is a man who's dead-set in his ways and his beliefs, believes himself to be a die-hard conservative, but votes based on what the media tells him rather than do any research and I think that's more common than not.

The media picks who we vote for, and it's the same damn media who focuses more on Britney Spears' latest escapades and Paris Hilton's latest love interest than anything that can teach viewers something that they can actually use. Heath Ledgers death has gotten more press than the election lately ffs. I mean yeah it's sad, but is it going to have any impact on the future of the world? no.

If this is all we have to go on now, I really fear for what our presidential pickings will be in 30 years.

I think what you're learning is that a huge chunk of people really just don't care

If people don't give a shit, why bother casting a vote for someone you know nothing about, representing support for someone who's potentially just rotten but you wouldn't know because you do whatever tv tells you, you know what I mean?

cripes, none of these things have anything to do with how they're going to run the country. I just don't understand the ignorance. it takes less than 20 minutes to at least dabble in learning what these people have a general focus on.

I hate the stubbornness based on nothing but hearsay and I hate closed primaries forcing people to affiliate themselves and leaving them in a one track way of thinking
