Sony Bravia 46w3000 + PC, video quality question
Ok so I was looking at the back of my monitor. Previously since I had the Westy before I assumed this set would have a DVI port. It doesn't. It has a regular monitor port (the one that looks like a serial, maybe it is one? I dunno) and 3 HDMI ports. Can I use a DVI (PC) to HDMI (TV) and is that better than doing the usual monitor port? Any difference at all video quality wise?

PS I'm asking because I havent gotten the computer yet otherwise I'd just plug it in and see for myself.

hdmi and dvi are the same video signal
only diff is hdmi will carry audio as well
so it'd be the same deal as with the westy, you run dvi to the tv (via a dvi to hdmi adapter)
and run audio via TOSlink or coax spdif to your receiver

I remember Tikk we talked on aim about whether i should use the analog cable to get my comp set up on the TV or use digital and tried to iron out what the difference was. The difference ended up being resolution. I want my desktop and games to be able to run at 1920 x 1080 and with the analog cable it wouldn't let me go past 1280 x 1024. Once i figured that part out the only question was sound and how I go from DVI to HDMI and still get sound (since vid card doesn't have HDMI). Noticed that out of 3 HDMI outputs in the back, 1 of em had the audio input sharing the same channel. So now it's all good.
Got a C2d 8400 3ghz with 4 gb ram and a GeForce 8800GT and Crysis still runs shitty with everything turned up lol.

I've had great success with an HDMI to DVI cable. TV is able to display it at 1080i and it all works swimmingly.
