My opinions on WOW. I don't think it'll be the EQ killer.

money.

and furthermore i believe that the majority of people who really bit down on EQ can't help be come out of it jaded. because honestly, as well-crafted and fun as WoW looks to me, there's a good probability that i won't even play it, because everquest popped my MMORPG cherry so to speak

you really can't expect a single player game online that abides to your standards.

EVERY rpg EVER is based in some way or another on what AD&D did. you're always going to have to gain levels and kill a lot of shit to get anywhere. if you don't want to do that, then i (again) suggest you go back to playing muds. that's the only place you're going to get the level of immersement you want.

This is all the information you have given us as too why you think it's an "EQ Clone".

The above can be said for every game on the market. DOAC, EQ, Shadowbane, FF Online, all of them.

Just because you SAY it's an EQ clone doesn't make it so. Tell me what makes this more of a "treadmill" game than others that were released in the post EQ era.

And don't fucking grade my post, Kyo. Seems like you're the one that isn't making himself clear, yankee wanker redneck.

Its called an OPINION. You'd understand that if you didnt live in a third world country that prohibited people from having them.

You're missing the point you cunt-faced yankee ignorant slut.

If you don't want people to disagree with your childish asinine opinion, don't post em. If you want to discuss the rise and fall of the MMORPG community than express yourself. I pointed out how the criteria for your wrath of WoW could apply to all MMORPGs on the market. This is, of course, invalid because you can't answer the question and, rather than tell me why, you make fun a country so fundamentally superior to the gaping anus of a country you call home.

What the christ does me being Canadian have to do with anything? Shut the fuck up with that Canadian bullshit in every goddamn thread I post in. I don't call you an ignorant loud-mouthed redneck asshole self-centered misguided close-minded moron in every post you make. So do me the courtesy you ignorant loud-mouthed redneck asshole self-centered misguided close-minded moron.

And I see the irony in calling you childish in a thread were I call you both a cunt-faced ignorant slut and a loud-mouthed redneck asshole, so don’t bother pointing it out. Just make fun of Canada and tell me I missed the point.

PS: Hi Taxx. Been to Subway lately?

I think the whole board knows that Zanchief's hot button is making fun of Canada. Zan, if you're half as wise as you think you are, you'd stop freaking out about it.

Actually, the summary would moreso be WOW = EQ2.

Getting back on course and glidepath of the thread, my point was simply WOW seems to very, very similar to EQ in design. As Taxx said it does a LOT of things much better than EQ, and is a better game.

However, underneath the surface, the design appears to be kill things, acquire exp, have encounters, acquire loot. Rinse and repeat. I think once people realize that WOW is in essence a souped up EQ game, many will go back to where they were.

Being bitter, old, as well as an ignorant Yankee Slut I'm not sure if I'm up for re levelling and raiding again, after going through it with EQ and DAOC, despite the fact WOW is a new world and a very well done game. I'm sure some of the younger people won't have an issue, but I'm a geezer!

I just wish Blizzard woud've come up with something revolutionary, although in the past their games are almost always just trying to perfect what's currently popular. WOW sticks to this philopophy to a T.

What I want is probably a few MMO generations away. My desire is for new dynamic, immersive, in depth, changing worlds where characters actions matter moreso than just static respawning single player worlds with 2000 people in it killing MOB x over and over.

Exactly, and that is what many people are looking for, me and Silvestra especially. We're tired of the EQ bullshit. I don't think many MMORPG's will be designed any other way other than kill things, get loot. But I really think you should not make a comparison to EQ until you've tried this encounter, or any others like it...(level up thx)

Hi Zanchief. How is it going these days. I haven't talked to you lately. Did I ever tell you about the time I went to Canada and ate Alligator, it was yummy. I like Canada. Remind me to tell you sometime how my ex husband picked a fight with a guy at a bar in Canada because he was making fun of the AMerican National Anthem. It wa embarassing. Oh, and settle down.

WoW is actually interesting, it has what EQ lacks, the ability to keep my interest. The only reason I would even log onto EQ for the last 3 months was for the social setting. I met alot of people in RL from EQ and considered them friends. It was a nice way to keep in touch.

WoW actually offers something fun and exciting, maybe only because its new to me, but still I actually ENJOY playing. I LIKE leveling up new players, you get to learn about the area, and the history. I think it will be successful. Lyion, why don't you hang with us for a few levels, it could be alot of fun.

I'm closing on level 20 on the PVP server. Let me know where you two are, and I'll send you a tell. I have a few characters on the main server, as well.

At the moment since we've FINALLY gotten both our computers up on the network and running WoW we're playing an undead rogue and warlock on the PVE server.

Hmm, what'd be the best compliment to that? Warrior? Priest?

warlock rogue good compliment....

hmm,,,

priest is good

but i'd probably recommend druid or shaman.

slightly more versitile that priest,

personally shaman is my favorite class.

can solo well - check
can dish out damage fast - check (long pulls i can lay down 500+ damage from intial aggro to melee engagement.)
can heal - check - not as good as priest but check
can lower damage done to tank per hit - check
can do ae damage- check
can do cc - check
mana regen- check
hp regen check
can do fire damage over time - check
can snare - check (2 ways in fact)

my normal group is rogue priest shaman

ok.. that sealed it for me... I had hoped shaman would not suck in WoW - hearing Lenardo's description of the class is a clincher.

Fuck EQ2

I was thinking Tauren Shaman... I screwed around on a sandbox with one and I really liked the feel of it... just nothing to interact with on the server. QQ~
