Going to NYC!

Postby Tossica » Sat Feb 23, 2008 9:57 am

It's only for the weekend but I've never been so I am excited!

So get this, My friends that live there called me last night because their laptop crashed and they were hoping I could help them get it back up and running over the phone. I tried to help for a bit but over the phone tech support sucks so I told them to call around and find a shop to take it in to. I told them to expect to pay about $150/hr cuz that's pretty much the going rate and my friend said ok. He called me back about 15 minutes later and was like "Dude, we can get you a plane ticket out here and back for less than it would cost for us to take it somewhere to get it fixed. What are you doing next weekend?"

So yeah, they bought me a ticket to come out and fix their computer! haha. Awesome. The round trip ticket was only $189!

Very nice, what borough?

I'm assuming you've been before.

Take a piss on the front door to clinton's office and have someone take a pic of the act. Now that would be comedy gold.

15 minutes to fix the laptop, 15 hours to enjoy the City.

I love NYC, and actually if I hadn't started reproducing again I was looking to move there.

Hope the trip is good, Toss. Maybe you'll get picked up by the Cash Cab!

Yeah, I like NYC, been there a few times. Though, I must admit riding on the subway and seeing every rooftop edged in coils of razor wire was a bit of a surprise...

I thought that was to keep the pigeons off. Is it for people?

Have fun in NYC Tossica. I've only been once when I was very, very young, and the only thing I remember about the trip is that we were going to see the Statue of Liberty, but decided not to for some reason.

here they do 2 things for the pigeons

    1) they embed broken glass or something like it on the edges

    2) import perigrine falcons to eat the pigeons

Honestly? The Statue of Liberty is not terribly impressive inside. It's a longass staircase where you're just surrounded by corroded blueish copper. Then, when you get to the head, the area to stand is literally about the size of a couch, and those windows in the top of her head are almost exactly the size of windows in an airplane. Not to mention, they're old, thick and scratched to hell, so you can't see dick-all through them. Plus, you're in a line the entire way up and entire way down, so it'll take you over an hour to go through the thing. Now, I will admit that the immigration museum on the island is kinda cool, but the statue itself, skip it.

I'm sure you'll be able to find plenty to do anyway, without having to resort to going to the Statue...

I saw it from the ferry and that was good enough for me.
