No because HD-DVD wasn't *officially* dead until a few days ago dumbfuck. HD-DVD still had Paramount and Universal exclusively. Keep laughing, I know deep down you're crying.
Dingleberri, Jay, Lyion and most of the other Blu-Ray backers in the world are backing the format that came in their PS3. That's it. The positive and negatives, technical aspects, consumer friendliness, value etc of the formats are all meaningless because you would be supporting DVD, HD DVD, 8-Track or whatever and dismissing the competing format no matter what it was if they had not included it in the PS3.
I don't blame you. I'd be doing the same thing had I paid $600 for a game machine with less than a handful of decent games for it. I'd want to get something for my money as well just don't pretend that it's for any other reason than to actually give some sort of value to your purchase.
HD DVD was the better value, the more consumer and studio friendly, more complete and logical, realistic replacement for DVD but you dismissed it because it was not in your PS3.

This is actually 100% true. It's a shame the "war" didn't go the distance, but momentum scared the studios and distributors into siding with Blu-Ray.
Lyion and Jay can cheer for their "victory" but we the consumers are the ones who are really going to get screwed by it all.

Watching movies on a tiny laptop might give YOU a better experience but personally, I'll pass even if it has ole George Lucas' stamp of approval. I've had DVD players in my pc's since they came out and I can count the number of movies I've watched on them on 1 finger.
my point is that you don't get to poopoo someone watching a 1080p flick, and being able to resolve all that detail when you're not watching the full 1080p spec

Actually it's a 17" screen. But my laptop has a built in HDMI port so I can hook it up to my 50" DLP and it looks pretty damn good.

Actually you're only half right. The reason why *I* support Blu-Ray over HD-DVD is....MORE SPACE. When the prices drop, I plan on getting a blu ray burner and some discs. If HD-DVD had more space, I would've support it over Blu-Ray.
