360 HD DVD player for 44 dollars..

Post by Lyion »

At Circuit City and Amazon

Ouch, how much did you milk someone for when you sold yours, Toss? It's worthless now.

Worthless? Dude, you are crazy. You still get 6 free movies with it, it has native drivers in XP and Vista, there are 400+ HD DVD titles out there that you can buy for dirt cheap these days and it still outputs your DVDs at 1080p.

$44 is a ridiculously low price for this thing dead format or not.

I'd consider picking one up at that price.

It beats paying 400+ dollars for a Blu-Ray player that sometimes plays crappy games.

Don't need one. It works with XP and Vista.

Is the decoding done through software or onboard hardware?

You need PowerDVD or some other kind of software to watch the HD DVD's. The drive just reads the discs and spits out the data.

Whatever the requirements are for PowerDVD Ultra or whatever program you use to watch your media.

Anyways, not sure why someone would want a discontinued product. Media and content are going to dry up pretty quick.

If you do want one, I'd wait a month, and you can probably find these for 10 bucks. There is a reason the price has dropped from 150 to 45, and it'll continue to plummet.

Exactly. In a few weeks you can pick up a ton of HD DVDs for next to nothing.

That's a good point. Not good for me personally. I like solely using my PS3 on my bigscreen, and have no desire to hook up more players or other crap. Eventually I'd like a BR player in my office, to share my library.
