Actually, that's exactly what it's supposed to do.

I think the markets react better to this, than him coming out, saying lolzer, you're screwed! personally,

welp, Lyion has a point there!

Honesty is a low priority for you in a President?

This is a situation where it's not about honesty or dishonesty. The President is in a unique position where what he says actually affects the outcome.

If he had come out and said "Yes, we're heading into a recession." Then his saying so would make it a certainty.

By saying "No, we're gonna be just fine!" he then bolsters that thought in people and we have a chance of actually being fine.

You'd be surprise, Toss. He may not be well-liked but he's got a lot of influence, especially on Wall Street.

yeah, unfortuneately, people allow their ideas about reality be swayed by what people say, rather than what they are experiencing.

i mean, "we are in a recession", that statement does not effect the majority of folks in the US, unless they have large holdings in stocks, etc, and even then, their brokers are handling that.

if i am smart with my money, as most aren't, then whatever is true for my financial situation is the most true thing.

things for my family are tight all around, before, after or in the middle of a recession doesn't matter. i think most people are in that relative situation.

i also think that a large group of folks, like cattle, pigeons, etc. hear that and freak for some reason. :dunno:

i heard an interview with the head of a NGO that makes announcements concerning "recession or non-recession" etc. the guy stated that by the time everyone declares the recession is happening, it has been in effect for 7-8 months and/or is already over and onthe upswing. :dunno:

Ever see a little kid, who gets all worked up over nothing? He gets so worked up, he convinces everyone around him that something really is wrong? Then, when everything is so blown out of proportion, the adults involved end up actually creating problems over what was really nothing?

That's the media on the economy.

Boo fucking hoo. So a recession is coming. We've been through worse. Acting like it will be the end of times for America only makes it worse.

I'd liken this to the "global warming" pandemic that ripples through the country. Like the world's climate, an economy goes up and down. People need to prepare for it and deal with it.
