word in the hood is that EQ2 is using a modified unreal engine? Is this correct?

If so i think it might actually run just fine. I have played ever version of unreal tournament up to 2004, and never had an issue with lag/gfx even with 50 people running all over the place shooting the hell out of each other, not to mention I have a very average computer and GFX card. That engine has to be the most efficient anywhere.

WOW is very well coded. It runs like butter on both my desktop <2 years old> and my laptop <1 year old>.

Get a Gig of RAM, and a halfway decent 3D card on a Pentium 2+ and WOW runs great.

EQ2 looks gorgeous and is much more detailed. I fear its system requirements.. It blows WOW away graphics wise, but people don't buy games solely on graphics...

Holy shit, Hey Baddwin!

My opinion is it's a year away. EQ2 right now is in closed EARLY beta. I'd guess at the earliest it'll come out Christmas time. Next summer would be a more realistic guess.

Single player I've been playing Farcry and Age of Mythology. I'm really looking forward to Doom 3 in a few weeks. Farcry is fun, but it's an FPS. Age of Mythology I bought last year and never played it, but it's pretty fun.

Multiplayer I just got into WOW beta a few weeks back, and its quite fun, although I have some issues with it. I may purchase SWG: Jump to Lightspeed, although I'm not sure how good it'll be. SWG is nothing like EQ though, and is a more social world.

If you're looking at a console I'd suggest an Xbox. Halo 2 is coming out this year and I'm a big Bungee fan. Also, if you search Tossica's post he has some pretty cool links to Xbox mods if you're into that.

Well, they cost the same.. Xbox is a bit more powerful and has some nice mods you can do to it.

PS2 has a wider variety of games, and gets some nice Sony/Japanese only titles that are fun.

A lot of devs make their games for both consoles, though.

Halo2 to me would make me pick Xbox over PS/2. I'm sure others would recommend the reverse based on other games.
