NEW BEDFORD, M.A. - (WPRI) - Police in New Bedford are investigating a shooting. Officials say it happened just before 5:30pm on Wednesday night.

Authorities say two men burst into a home on 75 Emma St on the 2nd floor in what initially appears to be an attempted robbery.

Police describe the suspects as either black or dark skinned Hispanic males wearing masks. The homeowner was shot the in the stomach by one of the suspects during the incident. The suspects then fled the scene.

The victim who sustained life threatening injuries has been med-flighted to a Boston area trauma center.

Anyone with information is asked to call police.
