I must admit, it would have been poetic justice if he'd died in a shooting.

Still, while I didn't care for the man myself (I actually don't think I can recall ever seeing a movie he was in), I'm not so callous as to celebrate anyone but the most vile of individuals' deaths, and he does not qualify in that category. So, I personally won't miss him, but I feel bad for his friends and family that will.

The Ten Commandments, Planet of the Apes, Ben Hur, The Greatest Story Ever Told, The Omega Man, Tombstone... the list goes on and on. I don't think he was ever in a flop of a movie. Plus, he was the president of the Screen Actor's Guild for a few years. But I respect him more for his gun rights activism and NRA leadership than anything else.

He gets a pass for Touch of Evil, but the rest are pretty bad.

He was hardly a war monger. He was an advocate (and a hardcore one at that) of not letting the government take away our right to bear arms (or any other freedoms rightfully ours for that matter).
Ben Hur and Ten Commandments are two of my all time favorite movies.
R.I.P. Mr. Heston.

This bit seems oddly familiar to me.
