Re: DS nirvana
seriously? i still ahve that on my NES
Re: DS nirvana
Tecmo Superbowl: kickoff
that's the official title I believe
they're not going to have the NFLPA licence, so I think they're going the complete fantasy route where you can create all the teams, players, etc etc etc

custom made team, and when you won games, you earned money to power up your players
could make trades, higher free agents, etc etc

Re: DS nirvana
All these games you talking about really makes me want to go buy a DS
Re: DS nirvana
It's worth it.
Then mod the ever living shit out of it and be in heaven. I can roam my house and use AIM when I'm not at my computer. Play games over the internet, emulators and roms, hell...use it as a fucking shitty VoIP phone if I wanted...
It's also great for all the GBA games I already owned, and the very obvious library of awesome NDS games out already.

Re: DS nirvana
If I were to purchase a mod for my DS which would you guys recommend? Are there different ones that do different things? Or is there one that is better than all the rest?
Re: DS nirvana
they're all pretty good now
I've got a r4 and a m3 lite perfect
r4 is a basic slot1 card that plays NDS roms and homebrew (video player, mp3 player, voip phone, comic book reader, etc)
r4 will take up to a 2gb microSD card
m3 lite perfect is a slot2 card that plays NDS roms and GBA roms, as well as homebrew.
it also contains 32mb of ram that the slot1 card can access, which makes running certain apps viable (such as a web browser, quake 1+2, linux, etc possible)
it also takes a microSD card of up to 2gb
I've got a CycloDS on the way right now actually
it's basically an improved r4. does everything the r4 does, but accepts micro SDHC cards (up to 32gb ) and has some other features that I don't really care about (real time save, slo-mo play, etc)
probably 90% of the slot1 cards out there are based around moonshell, which is a homebrew launcher, for lack of a better term. it's mostly known as the media player, but it can also load .nds files, and like i said, is the basis for most flashcarts
if I was buying one right now (and I just did I guess) I would look at 2 cards
CycloDS
M3 Real (there are like 357189357124895 different m3 cards, they're the oldest established flash cart company so gotta be careful)
m3 real has the benefit of being able to get included slot2 expansions (rumble, ram, and gba) so that you can do everything with it
the cyclods is the one North American based flash cart, is probably the #1 cart featurewise right now
also probably the most expensive
that being said
it's 55ish bucks
you don't actually have to mod your DS, it's just a cart you load
and there's 100% no reason to not own one

I'll probably pick up CycloDS then.

there you go
you can also use a coupon code at this site
it's either "SAVES" or "SAVE5", i'm not sure which (5% off)
you can use either microSD or microSDHC
with an 8gb microSDHC card you could carry probably 1000 NDS roms at once
I wouldn't recommend it tho, it's hard to find shit, heh
I would probably just go buy a 2gb card to start with (15 20 bucks) but up to you

Re: DS nirvana
Thanks man. What sites do you suggest for downloading ROMS or homebrew applications?
Re: DS nirvana
http://www.ngemu.com/
If you have any questions about emulators and roms, this is an amazing resource to have bookmarked.
These guys keep track of every little fucking thing possible.

Griever wrote:Thanks man. What sites do you suggest for downloading ROMS or homebrew applications?
I've always just used torrents to grab roms
for homebrew:
gbadev.org
gbatemp.net
http://nintendo-ds.dcemu.co.uk/
I also use something called offline list
it's basically a release list
so go to http://www.advanscene.net
download the nds .dat
download offline list
bring the dat into it, and it should be self explanatory at that point
you can also specifically look into these homebrews:
DSOrganise
moonshell
batchdpg
SVSip
rominator (not really a homebrew rom, but a rom manager)
Re: DS nirvana
By the way, you guys should check out The World Ends With You. It's totally unlike anything youve played before and its kinda crazy at first, but I've come to really love it.
Re: DS nirvana
I'm busy wtfpwning DQ4 atm, and dreaming about tecmo bowl, heh
Re: DS nirvana
There is a game i used to play and I can't find it anymore. It's loosely based off evolution. You start as a little fish and can upgrade your weapons speed etc to get bigger and fight harder things as you travel endlesly to the right of the screen.
Any ideas?
