What other games are out there?

As you know I have been into MMO gaming since Nameless went live wayyy back when. But up until recently I've never really had a system that could run anything remotely new so didn't really get a chance to delve to deeply into anything outside the sphere of MMO's. Then when I bought my system it came with the Orange Box set of games. I have played through the HL2 series about 5 times since and I have to say I absolutely love it. I also enjoyed Portal alot. Now I am waiting on HL2:Episode III but it would seem it'll be a long time coming. So my question is what other games are out there that are like the Half Life series? I'm not after a generic FPS, but rather a game with a decent story/background. I got Bioshock but the replayability factor is near nonexistant for me and I didn't get the same "vibe" from it as I did HL2.

So my question is what game(s) can you recommend? There are it would seem, many many games that have come out in the last few years (and not just FPS). Are any of them "must have" types? I would love to find a few games that will keep me occupied for a good while, till I find my next MMO.I enjoy FPS and RPG if that will help any. And as I said I have had little to no experience outside of MMO's gamewise so pretty much anything goes. I did a few searches over the last few days but the sheer amount of games is staggering. I know that many of you have played a large amount of non MMO games and am hoping you can help thin the herd so to speak.

also play Far Cry and then Crysis if you can

if you want to play a RPG I'd go with Gothic 3 over Oblivion

i am digging Guild Wars, it fits well with me since i have kids and a life that wont allow me to play all hours of the day. mmo to the point that you can group with others but all of the mishs are instances so you dont have to worry about douches jacking you and you can also get the last 2 expansions and have heros that you outfit and choose their skill set so you dont even have to play with others if you dont want to.

Oblivion was fun, went through it pretty quickly and the graphics are ooba.
