Age of Conan
Anyone in Beta? Anyone planning on playing upon release?
Re: Age of Conan
One of my old LOS compatriots is in the beta, and said that the first 20 levels or so are really awesome, but that it never gets any different. You're still doing pretty much exactly the same thing at L30 as you were at L10. Also, the special super uber PVP battle type they've talked about (dunno what that is) is limited to top level characters. He put it as being basically like a slightly more involved version of Alterac Valley, but instead of getting to do it every 20-30 minutes, you do it every 2-3 weeks..
He said PVP is also rather unbalanced still, ,which he gets around by playing one of the unbalanced classes. He's not aware of any high end raid game, but hasn't gone out of his way to find it either. There is supposedly a dragon lair zone, so there may well BE a raid dragon fight, but that's all he's heard of.
So, dunno myself. I think I'll wait to see what the reviews have to say.

Re: Age of Conan
My bro and his friend are in beta. He was telling me that it seems promising, but I need to try it myself. I don't place much value on reviews or others opinions on games anymore.
Re: Age of Conan
Interesting. I need to get a new computer and then I'll probably check it out this summer sometime. Looking forward to hearing the post-launch reviews.
I'm surprised there isn't more anticipation for it here though. It sounds pretty cool to me.

Re: Age of Conan
I'll probably be picking up the 360 version if/when it comes out.
Re: Age of Conan
Warhammer will shit on it that is all.
Re: Age of Conan
The FoH crowd seems pretty happy with this. Is there still no one playing it from NT?
Oh, btw, Ruin was early LoS, right? They're playing it.

I'm enjoying it.

Re: Age of Conan
The original Ruin had a lot of LOS people in it, yes, but 95% of them had quit by this point. Dunno who came back to play it though, I'm not in touch with most of them for a variety of reasons. Last I saw, there were more people playing City of Heroes/Villains than anything else.

Re: Age of Conan
I am playing it also. Having a hard time really deciding on a class. Got a necro and ranger to 31 but I am honestly worried about the viability of each at the higher levels. I've read through many of the class forums and there is nothing but complaints about broken feats or how their class is gimped past a certain level etc etc. Necro seems very underpowered but supposedly gets better 50+, but on the other hand the ranger is OP 20-40 and then tapers off.
I know the game just went live and as with all starts there are bound to be rough patches but from reading many of the forums it seems that 1/2 the feats are broken, the 50+ zones are bugged to hell etc.
Also not really knowing the specifics of each class and their roles at endgame doesn't help. Some classes are great single target dps, others are AE etc etc. But how do those roles fit into seiges and such, yadda yadda.
I'll stick with it for the time being and see how it pans out though. Likely gonna work on a HoX next, but man I'm getting tired of Tortage already haha.

Re: Age of Conan
I think I might go pick this up. What servers are you guys on? Can you give me a break down of class roles and what not?

Re: Age of Conan
Kahar and I are on Wiccana (PvE)....Lyion's on Cimmeria (PvP) I think.

Re: Age of Conan
I've barely played, as I'm supposed to be leveling up with a friend who's been too busy in RL to play, but I've got a Herald of Xotli on the Zug server, all of L6 or something.

Re: Age of Conan
I know 3 people who went to Conan from WoW, and now they are back to WoW. Impressive graphics though, but it's not enough to make a permanent move from another MMO.

You level too quick and then there's nothing to do.

Yeah... I got that. Crackheads devour an entire years worth of content in a few weeks and then complain that the game lacks content.
Re: Age of Conan
Only there isn't a year's worth of content. There's 2-3 months tops.

Re: Age of Conan
It's good if you want something you can play casually and for an hour or two here or there.
If you want a game to play that amounts to a 2nd career like EQ used to be for a lot of us here, no, it's not a game that will work for that.
