Re: Dungeons and Dragons Online
did beta....it was horrid
Inside each person lives two wolves. One is loyal, kind, respectful, humble and open to the mystery of life. The other is greedy, jealous, hateful, afraid and blind to the wonders of life. They are in battle for your spirit. The one who wins is the one you feed.

I played it about a year ago and was entertained but didn't have time for it. I picked it up again just recently. It's far from horrid IMO. It's slow paced and very casual friendly which is good. I've played several hours and am still lvl 2. I like the fact that you have to work hard to gain your levels.

is it actually like D&D ? i'd love to play a game that takes me months to get to lvl 20

The combat is realtime and all the "dice rolls" happen automatically but yeah, it's D&D rules pretty much. I still haven't made it out of the main city but you basically hang out in Inns, talk to folks, get quests and then go to instanced "dungeons". There's no "grinding" at all. You don't get XP for killing monsters unless they are tied to specific quests. You accept a mission, finish it and then at the end, all the monsters you killed in the process of finishing it are tallied up and added to the XP you get for finishing the adventure, just like D&D. I've yet to repeat a quest yet and am ALMOST lvl 3 but it's taken me many hours of play to get there. 16 is the highest level you can obtain I believe. I guess if you repeated the same quest over and over again, you can grind it out that way but each time you do a quest over again, I guess you get a smaller amount of XP.
Re: Dungeons and Dragons Online
that sounds good, like it promotes exploration of the content. speaking of that, is there a lot of content? can you roam around the woods or something or do you only leave the cities via instanced quests ?

I'm not sure yet. There are definitely outdoor areas and appears to be other towns and a rather large map to explore but I can't make it too far out of the city gates without getting my ass handed to me.
