i've been doing this for 2 days after I get home from work while watching tv, and i've made $50.37 so far. What it is is people text a question to "242242". It gets relayed to you (a guide) on your computer. You get 15 cents per question that you answer for the first 30 days, and after the first 30 days you get 20 cents per question you answer. averages out to about 10-12$+/hr depending on how fast you type and search. I'd say at least 80% of the questions that come in are from dumb kids that ask "What does anal feel like?" "How do you have sex?" and for those, you just type in some quick answer like "I wouldn't know what anal feels like, as i'm a straight man. Thanks for asking ChaCha!" and you make money. Simple stuff for those with some downtime between job(s). Anyway, just thought i'd throw this out there for you guys, as it's making me pretty decent money. Working as a ChaCha SMS Search Guide:

Job Details -
As a ChaCha search Guide, your job is to search and answer questions for people, via the internet.
Note: You must be atleast 18 years old and a legal U.S. citizen to work for ChaCha.

The Way it Works -
Someone sends in a question via their cellphone (text or call); their question will then be relayed to a guide (YOU) and you will use the internet to find an answer to that question; you then send the answer to them from your computer. Once you have done that, you will then be paid. You are paid for each question that you answer.

For example: Someone sends in a quesiton asking about the current weather in New York City. You would just go to a weather website, find New York City, and type the current weather conditions to them as your answer. DONE!
It's a great way to earn some extra money while browsing the internet!

How to become a Search Guide:

* Step 1: Go to http://search.chacha.com/guidesignupnow and fill out your information. You can enter me as a referral, my email is: matthew.munch@gmail.com

* Step 2: Next, you must wait for ChaCha Headquarters to review your application. This process usually takes about 1 full business day. After about a day or so, you should recieve an email from ChaCha that invites you take a few tests to see if you qualify as a Guide.

* Step 3: Prepare for the tests. Since you have a day before you will recieve your email, I advise you to look over the Guide HandBook. Also you'll be able to find a lot of good information Here.


Qualifying for the Job:
Once you have applied, you should recieve and email, about a day later, from ChaCha that invites you to take a few tests to qualify for a position as a Guide.

The test is divided into 3 sections. Each section is timed, so you must work quickly. You must complete each section in the allotted time, and each section will be graded, so try not to mess up -- You are only given ONE chance to take the test!

The Test:

* Part 1: 15 multiple choice questions reguarding the Company. Know the Founders of ChaCha, and what "ChaCha" means. The answers to these questions can all be found on the ChaCha.com website, as well as in the Guide Handbook!

* Part 2: This portion of the test is a Typing exam. You are required to type a short paragraph that will be presented to you once you take the test. You are graded on your speed and accuracy. Try to limit the amount of times you hit backspace and obviously try not to make too many mistakes.

* Part 3: The final part of the test is another set of 15 multiple choice questions. These questions will be general knowledge questions that will test your ability to search the internet to find the correct answers. However, with a little bit of education, you will more than likely not even need to use the internet as you should know most of the answers already.


Once you have completed the test, you should be notified whether you passed or failed. If you fail any portion of the test, you will not be able to re-take it! Assuming you passed (nice work!), you should recieve another email with further instructions. Read this email VERY carefully before proceeding to the next and final step. Also be sure to read all of the help and tutorial links/videos that are provided in the email, these will help you in the final step to becoming a Guide!

The Final Step!:
After passing the test and being selected as a Guide, you should recieve the final email that will ask you to complete 15 sample search queries. To do this, you will log onto the universe and wait for the search queries to pop up. After you have answered and submitted 15 queries, you are done! Log off!
Remember, these 15 sample queries are not real questions from real people, however, they are just "test" questions sent to you from ChaCha Headquarters.

You are graded on these 15 search queries by ChaCha Headquarters as a last step in the hiring process. Be sure to answer each question in a timely manner with the correct answers. Headquarters will then review your submissions and you will recieve yet another email that will congratulate you on becoming a Guide!

i miss the days of running a browser toolbar would earn you $.xx per hour

I used to actually get $50-$75 a month from that (it was a pyramid type thing where you'd get 10% of your referal's cash, etc)

This used to be a search engine. I was involved with Beta testing and left due to it just being a stupid concept.

It USED to be, someone would log into to this private conversation with you, they would ask the same stupid questions that Jei said and you would do the fucking search for them. You'd just copy/paste the link of the page for them.
You were paid chicken feed to do google searches for people.

You do/did get paid. The ladies that told me about it got their money through direct deposit, but they still got it.

chacha is pretty cool. Other than this thread, I'd never heard of them. Went camping with my bro and we heard a song that we couldn't remeber the band name.

He texted a message to chacha, and about 10mins later, got the response, it was a song from The Fix.

What I don't get is how chacha makes money, the text message was free (you have to pay your normal cell fees), the service was free, etc

I imagine they make their money by advertising on their search engine, but I don't think it will be sustainable once companies realize that the people doing the searching are rather unlikely to ever click ads.

so today i withdrew 60 bucks from my chacha account (sorry, only come to this board like once a month if that). it's legit, i have a chacha debt card in my wallet right now and can make/withdraw money whenever i want. it's free money for bored people. and jay, it's not spam because i'm obviously not a bot and because it's legit - i'm just throwing it out there for anyone here who has free time and wants to turn that time into some extra spending cash. You won't get rich off of this. you WILL make 10-12$ an hour for sitting at your computer however. just a suggestion

the only part of the test that's not included in those answers is the typing test - you're on your own there other than that, it'll score you a 100% and you'll be signed up as a guide.

as a side note, NEVER use wikipedia or any type of forums as a reference when you're typing an answer, especially in your 10 practice questions, as those sites are blacklisted. blacklisted because they can be altered by the public and might not hold 100% truthful statements.

other than that, make sure you use me as your reference when you sign up (=p) and enjoy making your extra money. i'm loving it :D
