College Football
USC looked great yesterday. SEC is once again the best conference while the ACC sucked ass. At least Brinstar doesn't have to listen to the announcers fawning over Booty anymore.
Re: College Football
usc looked like they were playing a highschool team
they really need to get their shit together and come up with legit schedules and playoffs

Re: College Football
i went to the nebraska season opener, woot! :D
they won pretty securely but they definitely played like ass in the second half, yowza. it was fun, though! and perfect football weather--85ish when the game started at 6, with a nice breeze and low humidity, down to 75ish (or lower) by the end of the game. sky was crystal-clear and the air was crackling in the stadium. fun times!
i hope they can go on to suck less and less as the season continues--it'd be nice to regain some old glory. i'm also excited to see what this pelini guy is made of hehe--as i was never interested in NU fball before moving to lincoln, i don't know much about him so he's completely new to me

hahaha no shit
in fact yesterday during the NE game (on TV, i don't actually go to the games) i asked my buddies "so who do you think will be this year's john david booty"
we decided it would probably be either tim tebow or chase daniel
ANYWAY
i wouldn't give the "best conference" trophy away just yet there, cowboy. first of all, it's still only the first weekend of the season and almost all the top teams played cream puffs, but second of all, all indications point to the big 12 shaping up to have a really strong season this year
and leah: bo was defensive coordinator at NU under Frank Solich in the 2003 season. asshole AD pederson fired solich, and bo became interim head coach for that year's bowl game, which NU won. despite the public rallying to bring bo on as the permanent head coach, pederson fired him and brought in callahan. during that time, bo was defensive coordinator at LSU, which for three years was ranked third in overall defense. after 4 years, chancellor perlman axed pederson and brought in T.O., who waited until the 2007 season was over and fired callahan. 9 days later we had our bo back.

Re: College Football

hehehe
at any rate, it was nice to win and i think the team's (and fans') morale is definitely boosted with this guy, so that's cool. i will say that i think it's kind of weird to see personalized plates with the likes of "bo nos d" when the season hadn't even started yet, but i'm excited to see where it goes.

Re: College Football
I watched the Nebraska game with some alumni chapter here. I got an invite from a friend of mine, he kept insisting on us going to a game this year (he lived up yonder for like 12 yrs) anyway, I wanted to check with you Nebraska peoples if it was worth a trip up there or is it just like any other college football game. Keep in mind, I think 40 degrees is FUCKING COLD so that will likely play a large part to my participation is said game attendance.
Re: College Football
oh man, the games are SUCH an experience!!! the air crackles :D and as long as you don't end up sitting by douchebags, you'll probably have a great time. plus, there's the option of grabbing beers with me and the brin*

Re: College Football
As an alumni of the great University of Nebraska (Kearney) I hope we end up ranked in the top 10 by the end of this season. I felt that in the past couple of years our offense wasn’t the problem… it was absolutely terrible… I mean TERRIBLE defense the ruined our chances of ever seeing a top five spot, let alone a national championship.
NOW – that Callasuck is GONE and we have a former D coordinator (from a national championship team) I think things are going to turn around big time.

Re: College Football

that explains.....so much......
oh yeah anyway if you think 40 is cold, first of all: lol and second of all: come to a september or october game, things can get chilly in november
i have never actually been to an NU game so take leah's word for it

Re: College Football
srsly the games are uber fun :D
like i said, the season opener was a perfect 85ish degrees, clear blue skies . . . gorgeous.
this week it's looking like mid-70s. also, 40 =/= cold lolol . . . when jorsh and i went to the big 12 championship in KC a couple years ago to watch huskers vs. ohio state (i think?), it was a few days after a blizzard and there was still a few inches of snow in the part of the stadium where we were seated, so our feet turned into blocks of ice and i swear i thought my toes/nose were going to fall off
it was miserable!! but ya, sept. and oct. are primo game times.

Re: College Football
leah:
ohio state is from that limp-wristed conference that is mostly northeast of here: the Big Ten
the Big Twelve championship you went to was NU vs Oklahoma
diekan:
okay dude
UNK might be a decent school but kearney itself is a rancid shithole

Re: College Football
Nothing wrong with Kearney. No it's not Lincoln or Omaha, but it is what it is...
Re: College Football
meh i don't mind kearney so much *shrug* but i definitely like hastings, grand island, and lincoln better. although i will say i went to kearney a lot in high school because it was the closest town with a target hehe :D and now i live where there are THREE! THREE TARGETS!! target is the best <3
oh ok i wanted to say oklahoma state but i thought that was wrong hehe FAIL

Re: College Football
Target > Wal Mart by far.
Re: College Football
Thanks for the info. I'll see if I can make an October game.
BTW, this old lady watching the game with her hot daughter said there is no "island" in Grand Island. What's up with that?

Re: College Football
haha it's true. isn't that bizarre? i don't really know what the story is behind it, though.
well, there is the "mormon island" state recreation area just outside GI . . . but it's not really an island either.

yeah. "it is what it is." rhetorical masterstroke, that.
besides, what it "is" is a rancid shithole.
