It's a blast so far but it seems kind of narrow minded. I'm only at the tribal stage since last night. I put in a few hours worth of gameplay.
I liked the cellular stage the most so far. Creature stage was ok, and tribal stage is a bit annoying atm.

How do you like this spoiler, motherfucker? -Lyion
Re: Spore
Yeah, it's ridiculously customizable but the customizations don't really have much sway over what's going on.
The game went downhill after the cell stage.

nope, not in my opinion
for some reason I was expecting it to take a couple of days at each stage to advance
not just minutes...
the very early stages are kinda cool, cause you're constantly working towards mutating/evolving to have better abilities to help you survive better
I dunno
I was entertained the first time time thru
then just realized after 3-4 hours that I was done with it, and probably will uninstall it tomorrow

Re: Spore
Meh that's disappointing to hear.
Have either of you visited other player worlds and interacted with them at all?
We have the creature creator, but haven't bought the game yet - were waiting to see whether or not it delivered as it said it would.

Re: Spore
I think it technically delivers what it promised, but not what was expected? if that makes sense
there's a lot of weird looking shit out there, and it's semi neat, but the interface is so clunky that I spend most of my time zoomed out
so it wasn't like I was really spending alot of time looking at graphics
they REALLY should have done it like supreme commander/sins of a solar empire

Re: Spore
I've read that Spore has a DRM that limits to 3 installs. It got bombed on amazon reviews.

Re: Spore
you're probably playing it for completely different reasons than i am
i could care less about the RTS elements or the "clunky interface"
i enjoy it 100% because of the editors. i'm the type of person that would play this game endlessly just to see what i come up with next. it already completely engulfed me for the whole day yesterday and i never even made it to the tribal stage of my first species playing on hard (yes, i only play games on hardest difficulty. why wouldn't you)
if you just wanna win win win and play an RTS then look someplace else. Spore isn't one and it's a very short game if you just running thru it. i don't even know why you'd want to play it like that
i'd definitely recommend this game to anyone with a sense of creativity because it's basically endless fun. if you don't like the creature creator or anything like that then i would definitely recommend playing some other game. there isn't that much to do in Spore aside from making stuff and seeing if it stacks up to your competition. i almost dropped an epic beast yesterday :\
my only real gripe with it is that dying has no penalty whatsoever. i don't like games that don't punish you for being wreckless heh. also i wish you could zoom out more in creature mode

Re: Spore
Hmm, maybe the game has some potential after all then.
We have been playing with the creature creator nonstop with our 6 year old, and it's been so much fun seeing the things we're making come to life... especially when they have like 8 sets of teeth. Too funny.
We want to play it for the exploratory and creative aspect. Definitely not looking for something to "win" at, so to speak. If I wanna kill everyone, I'll fire up UT and go frag people lol.
Thanks for the look on the other side Drem.

it's really fun to explore because every planet you create a new species on is pretty different from the rest. it's also got a lot of achievements to earn, which i like. there are a shitload of different parts for the creature editor and i only found about half in my one afternoon. the worlds are pretty big and it's really awesome to see all the other stuff people make, as well as what Maxis came up with. i spent a lot of time inspecting all the other creatures i came across. most of them are pretty stupid but sometimes you find really badass stuff. i published one of mine
i'd imagine a 6yo would want to play this game non-stop. i probly would

I love his reviews. I always get a good laugh from them.

Inside each person lives two wolves. One is loyal, kind, respectful, humble and open to the mystery of life. The other is greedy, jealous, hateful, afraid and blind to the wonders of life. They are in battle for your spirit. The one who wins is the one you feed.
