The ACLU

Postby Diekan » Sat Sep 06, 2008 10:44 pm

It's shit (see links below) like that, that make me glad organizations like the ACLU exist.

http://www.businessweek.com/magazine/co ... op+stories

I know the Microsoft article is older, but the Businessweek hype is just last week. So, I added them together to give you some perspective of how freaking out of control "big business" is getting in their never ending quest for more and more productivity and profits.

Interesting tidbit. Al Gore is currently a senior advisor to Google.

You know, he never actually said that, not at least in the usage everyone means it.

What he said is that he was responsible for the bills in congress that led to the creation of the internet.

Yeah, if he'd tried to claim he sat there helped develop packet streaming technology, it'd be laughable. But since all he claimed is that he helped provide funding for the creation of ARPANet, which ended up morphing into the internet, he's actually quite accurate. Without his work in getting the bills to create ARPANet passed, there might not be an internet, so yes, he did help create it.

That may not have been your intent, but I connected the lines for you. I didn't explain those connections in detail as you have in the past chided me for long posts. I know you aren't an idiot so I didn't bother drawing those connections in detail, I know you figured out what I was pointing out, that this sort of methodology can not be ascribed to only Republicans.

Oh crying out loud. How many times do I have to point out that I am not a far left conservative?

I donate a nice chunk of change to PETA every year.
I donate a nice chunk of change to the ASPCA every year.
I am vehemently opposed to fascist legislation like the Patriot Act and FISA.
I am highly untrusting of “big business.”
I am an environmentalist.
I think “natural” drugs (think weed / shrooms) should be LEGAL.
I think prostitution should also be LEGAL.

Etc etc etc.

As I’ve already explained… I have my reasons for voting McCain this time around. And, as many of you know – or at the very least SHOULD know. McCain a MUCH more liberal in his leanings than any of the previous presidential-wanna –bes that attempted to run this time around. I don’t want some idealistic, naïve, inexperienced president completely fucking up our ability to defend ourselves. Among other “things.”

PETA= People Eating Tasty Animals ;)
Inside each person lives two wolves. One is loyal, kind, respectful, humble and open to the mystery of life. The other is greedy, jealous, hateful, afraid and blind to the wonders of life. They are in battle for your spirit. The one who wins is the one you feed.

If prostitution was legalized it would be a better situation than it is now. For instance you could tax it, you could require all prostitutes to have an up to date health exam. Hell you could place all sorts of requirements and regulations on it.

I've never understood why prostitution was illegal. I mean, why is it illegal to charge for something that it's perfectly legal to give away for free?

these are pretty interesting points. I never really viewed it in that light.

There's no argument one can make, besides trying to legislate morality, for prostitution to remain illegal. It's decidedly unconstitutional, and is simply an unenforceable law that wastes resources instead of collecting revenue.

I think McCain is going to win this election. It became immensely clear in 04' that America deserves what we have received.

How anyone can morally vote for someone who is for the Iraq war, for more wars, and for a draft is beyond me.

I don't think he's saying he's voting for McCain, he's saying we'll end up with him anyway because we're too stupid a nation to vote with our heads, so we'll get what we deserve.

I don't plan to vote for McCain. I just have a pessimistic viewpoint.

A result of driving around Pensacola, Florida to see so many McCain bumper stickers.... attached over the Bush 04 stickers.
