Warhammer Future players list

Post by Lyion »

Given I really enjoyed DAOC, I'm planning to nab this and give it a try.

Post here if you're interested and want to hang with our NT crew of degenerates.

I applied for Beta. Whether I play it or not on release is another kettle of fish entirely.

You may be aware that Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning has been undergoing a closed Beta. Your awareness is a day out of date. Mythic have confirmed that they’'re closing their Beta for a couple of months so they can - I paraphrase loosely - '“Have A Little Think”'.
Inside each person lives two wolves. One is loyal, kind, respectful, humble and open to the mystery of life. The other is greedy, jealous, hateful, afraid and blind to the wonders of life. They are in battle for your spirit. The one who wins is the one you feed.

My friend who's been playing it has had good things to say about it.

It's very VERY heavily oriented towards PVP, though, so if that's not your cup of tea, then don't bother.

One of the new innovations of the game is something called a "Location quest". Basically, it's a spawn cycle type of quest, but everyone within a certain location is participating. How much XP you get out of it is based on your participation level. If you kill one mob, you'll get a tiny amount, if you're #1 on the damage charts (or healing charts), not only will you get a ton of XP, you'll also stand to get some loot.

The complicating factor is that the opposing faction can take part as well, with directly opposite goals from you. Whichever faction wins by completing their quest results, when it respawns, that location will respawn with stuff geared towards the winning faction. (If orks win, say, it'll spawn dwarves to farm for XP, and visa versa). At least that's who it was explained to me, when I watched a brief session.

Are we all going to get on the same server? I have enough people here to probably start a guild on the first day.

We're going full RVR server Destruction side.

I do plan to try it out, but i've never really played the PvP aspects of WoW, so I will probably suck badly at WAR.

I fucking despise how World of Copy/Pastecraft fucking ruined the MMORPG world for years to come.

I would go back in time and fucking assassinate whoever's brainchild it was if I could.

Ok...after getting a chance to spend more time with it last night I'm slowly revising my first initial negative impression. The public quests are really fun.

The graphics and interface system/interaction with NPCs is very WoWish, but the gameplay is better than I expected.

I'm really enjoying it, but I don't know if i'll keep my preorder and pay to play. I don't really know anyone playing and i've heard at higher levels you really need a group to fully enjoy things. In one of the Chosen PQs, there are some crazily hard-hitting mobs and they shred my Magus, I can imagine that with a group this would go a lot smoother. The PQs, the Scenarios, the Influence, all of that is a lot of fun.
