Sorry, but I don't believe that. He's had to sell his soul and pander to the extreme wing of his party to get this far. Especially with selecting Palin, he's going to be entirely too beholden to the far-right to ever act independently if he has any hopes of re-election. So, no, I don't trust him to ever be like the 2000 McCain again, especially if it comes to things like selecting justices for the supreme court, etc.
So no, zero chance he gets my vote.

Oh, I never expected him to get your vote. I just don't trust that he won't just go back to the way he was.

Even if McOldie does win on his foundation of lies, he won't get shit done with a Dem run house and senate, the US will be at a standstill until his term is over.

I didn't mean to imply that but I guess I did, sorry 
. I was saying more to any McMan fans that if he will revert back to all the things he said in 2000, when he could really be called a maverick, but has changed his tune to get elected, and THEN goes back to his 2000 mindset, I was just making the point that IMO he'd be an even worse, ethically speaking.

You don't return to a maverick willing to cross party lines by picking someone as extreme right as Coulter. The pick was for votes, obviously - unfortunately, not many people are thinking about what's going to happen in the white house once the novelty of a snarky cute female wears off.

The trend throughout the last century has been when one party controls both elected branches, the economy doesn't boom.
The latest boom occurred with a Democratic president and then-newly elected Republican Congress. Before that, a Republican president and Democratic Congress. Going all the way back to the Great Depression, the one-party-controls-everything model has not worked for the economy. Power corrupts of course, and without the tension between rival powers, waste is at its highest.

That seems to be very unlikely at least over the next few years, as I understand it, the dems will gain even more seats over the short term, but hey, it's all a toss up and seems a lot like chaos just now.
