Not sure how broad it is but this is the exact shit that just pisses me off to no end. I would much rather pay .25 MORE for the real thing then to get screwed into thinking I'm eating chocolate
WTF, from downsizing packageing but leaving the box / label looking the exact same, to things like this tiss a sad day for chocolate lovers
ok ew. i don't care if they downsize packaging (lord knows we could all stand a little LESS chocolate bar haha) but i think it's uncool to replace that which makes it "milk chocolate." boo. at least i won't be as tempted by it, i guess.
At the time, Hershey’s spokesman Kirk Saville told the Harrisburg Patriot-News that “there are high-quality oils available which are equal to or better than cocoa butter in taste, nutrition, texture and function, and are preferred by consumers.”
Bull-freaking-crap. Cocoa butter does not have an equal where good chocolate is concerned IMO. I've had chocolate made with almond and macadamia nut oil. It's good in flavor, but texture/mouth-feel is totally off. It's closer to melt-in-your-mouth plastic. People don't "prefer" inferior chocolate. It just sells more because it's cheaper. How sad... dorks... good thing I don't like Hershey's anyway. I'll stick to my 86% cacao Ghirardelli loveliness.
Dove makes good chocolate as well. Or, if you really want to go whole hog, there's stuff like Godiva's.
I'm not a fan of the dark chocolates, too bitter for my tastes. I definitely prefer the milk chocolate end of the spectrum. But yeah, I'm not a fan of Hershey's chocolate anyway, too chalky.
I actually used to know a guy who was related to the original creator of Hershey's. That original creator had one of the all-time great names, ever: Milton Snavely (with a last name of Hershey, of course). Sounds like the kind of name one of those moustache-twirling villains from the early silent movies would have.... heh.
i dunno how far-reaching See's is, but that's pretty good chocolate
here in eugene we have a local thing called Euphoria and that's probably the best chocolate i've ever tasted. i don't really mark dove or godiva that high
That's really disappointing to hear about Hershey. I won't be buying their fake chocolate.
The Native American tribe I work for owns a chocolate factory here in Oklahoma that makes some really good chocolate. It's called Bedre. They always like to brag that it's the chocolate sold in Neiman Marcus.
Inside each person lives two wolves. One is loyal, kind, respectful, humble and open to the mystery of life. The other is greedy, jealous, hateful, afraid and blind to the wonders of life. They are in battle for your spirit. The one who wins is the one you feed.
